new guy Hey! I'm Chris, 22, in the military...and thinking about getting a fiddy. I'm new to bikes...i have a 2005 YZF600R "Thundercat", Team Yamaha Blue. Been riding that since the beginning of june. Anywho, like I said I'm thinking about getting a fiddy. I don't have a lot of money to spend, and don't plan on going too crazy. I'd use it for riding trails, around the woods at my folk's place, and on a friend's mini moto-x track. Seems like you guys have quite the setup going on here, so I'm open to all the information you're willing to throw at me. TIA!

Re: new guy See, that's the thing. I don't really know. My cousin has a chonda 50 with an 88 kit, but he said for what i'd be doing with one i'd be better off getting a 110 or something like that. I don't know brands or anything, and today is the first day I've even started seriously looking around at stuff.

Re: new guy I'll tell you what I know but it isn't much compaired to some of these guys but from China the only good bikes are Motovert, Pister Pro, and OGM. I've owned the cheapest ebay special up to a middle range quality bike called an orion, up to a high quality bike the motovert. It's night a day difference, I'm 5'10" and 190lbs. So I'm going to tear the crap out of a real little style bike, the Pisters and the Motoverts are a midsized bike that can take a true beating and have tons of useable power, top end on my pister is 65mph on the pavement, not sure what it is on the dirt but it has more power than I can handle at this point. Next you really need to buy your bike from a quality dealer. I bought my bike from TDK motovert and a quick search on here will show you how good they are with customer service. Then the price is always an issue, Motoverts are about $2000, Pisters are about $1700, and OGM's range from $2000 to $1000 depending on the model. If you don't buy one of those three you'll spend at least that much repairing anything else and trying to upgrade it so it's faster. You should call Tommy at TDK motovert and just talk with him a bit. If you want his number let me know.

Re: new guy I definitely don't want to get something that I'm going to be constantly fixing. Price isn't necessarily an issue, but I'd like to stay around the $1000 range...I've dropped a lot of money into toys within the last year, so I need to catch up a bit.
