what would get people to show up for races at blue diamond?

reading through the events page i see people traveling 3-5 hours each way to race....and when blue diamond in delaware ran races..the only people that showed up were 10-20 (at most) local kids...i know my opinions of why that was...and i would like to hear from others what they thought could be done to get people to show up....and hopefully we can get something going ...since the place is 15 mins from me id love to see it actually turn into something

Re: what would get people to show up for races at blue diamond?

I was just there yesterday to race RC and the pit bike track looks awesome. Its only about an hour from me so i'd be interested. I gave them a call and the person on the phone said she wasn't sure if they were still doing pit bikes. She told me she would check and call me back. No response yet.

the same things ive been beating on them about...and their response was..."we tried and no one showed up"...we are trying to get him to let us basically level the track, take out the concrete bmx turns and start over...would just a better track in the begining be enough to get people coming?....payout is based on entries...if they see real interest and rider numbers increased im sure they would be more interested in the pitbike stuff

they have a thing about holding the races at night...(fri or sat)...is that part of the problem?

a buddy and i are trying to get it worked out with them ...thats why i was asking some opinions on here....when we talked to them yesterday about the changes we thought were needed to make it successful....they didn't really seem interested in investing time and resources for the same type of turnout they have had in the past...

Pitster race support program!!!

advertize advertise and hype it up. contact vendors as above that are willing to help the sport grow. contact as many sponsors local and abroad as you can. then advertise some more. payback trophies to 5th place, specially for kids...

Re: what would get people to show up for races at blue diamond?

i live 5 min from the track and me and my brother are there all the time. we ride big bikes too and mostly only go to practice/race the big track but hes told us before that if we wana go and practice on the little track that we could. its just gota be during hours of operation. and most of the time if its just us we just show up ask and ride, fo free. but so far this year they had 1 mini race the night before a big bike race. thats how they seem to do it there. but they dont advertise and get it out enough. thats why wen they have em its mostly us local kids cuz were kinda the only ones who wind up finding out. and even my brother and i being local, there have been many times wen we didnt even hear about it till a day or two before. id love to get some mini races goin and more ppl to show up all the time, but i guess its up to them and like u guys are sayin they arent that interested in putting time and effort into cuz they dont see a good outcome.

Re: what would get people to show up for races at blue diamond?

I raced there last year and the turnout was good, about 25-30. I got hurt and could not do the rest of the season but was hoping to run there again this year.
Here's my take on Blue Diamond. I think the track was great and the atmosphere was laid back, a definite plus. I also think their was a lack of backing/pit bike support. If you take a look at the bigger more successful series's in the area you will see most if not all have the backing of a pit bike dealer/promoter.
The track itself was fun and the concrete turns were well, concrete turns. If the track layout was constantly changing and just 2 turns bigger with a good finish line jump it would be much more appealing. It was just a 2nd gear track with very technical type jumps. I liked it but those who could not get it probably did not. The cost's were kept to a minimum (a huge plus and should stay that way) and the running at night was great. I think maybe they had to many dates being they had an event every weekend (pratice day/race day). I was looking forward to getting some time in but to expect a great turnout every week is a little to optomistic.
It would be sad to see something like this fade away so what ever you need to get this back and running I"M IN!!! LMK Anthony

Re: what would get people to show up for races at blue diamond?

I would make the drive from fairfax VA, they need something on there web site... and a way to contact them. I would be more than happy to haelp build as well. I know that i could get the very least one other guy to ride from around this way.

every other week would probably be more doable or once a month, night races are awsome so keep that.

Advertising is the best way to get people there. Sponsers help a great deal as well. talk to the local motorcycle stores. see if you can get them to throw in some $50 gift certificates.. or free gear. Hell a pair of goggles or gloves goes a long way to a kid who doesn't have a pair.

Re: what would get people to show up for races at blue diamond?

mazz pm'd me. i live like i said 5 min from the track. motojockey is a local shop that i have worked at before and my brother now works at so we know everyone. i told mazz ive been meaning to get some info out of em but ive just been busy, not riding much myself. but i have off monday and im gona start making some phone calls and see wat needs to be done. and i will def mention that there is a much bigger interest then they think but they just need to advertise some more. if it takes me being a liason between them and the planetminis forum world then i would be willing to do some of that stuff. also, thanx for the offer to work on the track i think that is another one of their probs. they pull employees from other sites to work on it and i think they prolly feel that its a waste and cant make enough money off of it. thats how they are over there, but like i said i will try to find out some info and talk them into doing something about it.

Re: what would get people to show up for races at blue diamond?

yeah, i've raced there on big bikes but never on pitbikes. my friends told me about them racing, that's how i found out. i just think they need to advertise more and that seems to be the census from everyone else too. it's hard to get a promoter to spend money on advertising when they aren't making any money at it to start with. they should team up with E-town to make their series bigger or even the landing.

Re: what would get people to show up for races at blue diamond?

lol, idk rt 13 is pretty shaddy just a couple miles north of the track im sure if u came u could find some hookers. about a year ago they busted some because a call was made saying that at one house ppl were having sex on the front yard, some real nasty stuff was goin on, lol. and killer110, does the landing have a mini track? ive been there only a few times and that was back wen i was on 80s which was a while ago. it was really small there. they had like 5 tracks on like no property at all, they shoulda just had one cool big one or maybe 2 tracks at most.

Re: what would get people to show up for races at blue diamond?

the landings has 4 tracks total... the big track, what they call a intermediate/quad track (boring), a tiny thing that you could put a power wheels on, and then another one that has a few small doubles and tables. I think that one is the funest of the bunch on a mini. You could do all the jumps on a stocker.

The intermediate with some work could be pretty fun. It just needs some more jumps and the berms built up. Wouldn't take much
