Be the first to ride Buttonwillow with SCminiGP

SCminiGP is extending its arms to riders of the mini road racing community to join them in breaking in a new kart track.

September 16th, 2006, SCminiGP will host a regular championship race for its current members but encourages riders from other organizations to join them as they break in Buttonwillow International Raceway’s Karting Facility.

Buttonwillow offers 6 different configurations, which include several banked corners, an optional 974 ft straight, variable elevation changes, in addition to a covered pre-grid area. The facility is located in Bakersfield, Ca less than 2 hours from La and just over 3 hours from northern California.

The unique situation for this event revolves around SCminiGP’s 2007 changes. SCminiGP will beta test proposed classes for the 2007 season. SCminiGP is dedicated to providing a 100% youth focus road racing program. After making changes from the 2005 season to better accommodate its youth involvement the program has seen significant youth growth and participation. Although the details of the entire class structure will come at a later date, there are a few significant additions being proposed.

Pocketbike Addition
A proposed Semi-Pro class is proposed. The class will be built around a 40cc, multiple ports, 14/14 SHA carburetor configuration. The class will allow both youth and adult riders. It will serve as a place where semi-pro juniors can get additional ride time on the same bike, as well as offer an additional race class for amateur seniors. As an independent class it will allow for Semi-Pro pocketbike riders to race in the Pro-GP as an additional class. This provides each rider with an opportunity to race one bike twice in the same day.

Shifter Addition
An advanced shifter class will be added based on a 65cc two-stroke/modified four-stroke (cc to be defined). This class will provide an additional race opportunity for our youth and adult riders in both the 50cc and stock Thunder GP classes. It will also allow for the riders of this independent class to have an additional race opportunity in the highly competitive 80GP. The class opens the doors to many 65cc platforms and provides a progression for stock 50cc riders.

SCminiGP’s current Race Director Josiah Taulbee said, “Our goals with the 2007 class structure are to offer more racing for riders with just one bike. We believe the more track time our youth get, the faster the progress, as proven with our 50cc and NSR cup classes. Our program supports a variety of bikes types and we hope to give each bike type more opportunity to race next season”

Although this information is limited a detailed proposed class structure will be provided on the official SCminiGP website. The details will draw out the class plans for 2007 in addition provide specific changes to operations, rules, and staffing. The site will also provide information on the day of the event if riders are interested.

HOpe to see yall out.. Its going to be a good one!!!!

Peace

Registration for Race #7 will open on Saturday 9/10/06, through your standard pre-registration SPEEDREG.com.

The track will be have an open practice on Friday that is to be shared with the Karts. We are working to setup an arrangment with the track for a $25 practice fee + the standard $10 gate fee they charge (This is not the SCminiGP $10 Insurance Fee).

NOTE: At this time that arrangement is not complete and we will notify you if we are able to make the arrangement. Otherwise be prepared to pay the fee the track request.

Camping is not allowed unless we pay them a fee. The musth have a gate worker to stay at the gate and it cost money. The amount is $120, if you want to camp then you need to make arragements to help us pay the fee. We must know in advance (that means before end of day Friday). We will not cover the fee and those who are planning on camping will need to help us cover the costs. I suggest you email me or call me. info@scminigp.com or 626-673-0145.

Buttonwillow Final Results
Racers & Race Fans,

Buttonwillow Kart track was unbelievable.

The drive although an hour more than our usual trip was redeemed once arrived at the track. The weather was perfect, the sky's where clear, and the dedicated slowly rolled up.

There is no doubt that next year we may see more of this track.

The races where awesome, especially because the championship is coming to a quick end. With double points everybody saw a lot of transition in positions and its possible we may have some new leaders.

Our points will be up by Wednesday. If you have any questions please let me know.

Our next race date Oct. 21, at the wonderful Grange Motorcircuit.
