Speedo drive gear removal from brake panel

Is the metal gear removable? either it's pressed in or rusted in, because i don't see any retaining mechanisms. suggestions?

Re: Speedo drive gear removal from brake panel

I think the gear is pressed in. I looked at one and found no way to remove it without damaging it. I checked an on line fiche and they don't even list a replacement part. Why do you want to remove it?

I want to run the Vapor speedo pickup through that hole and mount the magnet to the plastic gear inside
