My PBR/ZB build

First of all hi guys I've just registered.

I have PBR ST90 which you know is a near replica of ZB50. Yesterday I staring to rebuilding it and modifying it compleatley, but run in to one annoying problem with the rear caliper.

Im using:-
G-craft braced swingarm for NSR and Monkey R
G-craft 12 o'clock caliper holder
NSR 12" 3 spoke wheels
NSR rear disc
Brembo caliper
KYB 210BSGT gas monoshock

Everything fits without any problems but my Caliper rubs on the hub of the wheel? I tried putting spacers and everything but no joy.
It can work if caliper holder sits a bit higher or caliper sits higher. But you cant udjust that G-craft caliper holder.

Any suggestions? Dis anyone had thesame problem?

Re: My PBR/ZB build

Welcome from across the pond. What's your first name?

Can you give me the part number of the G-craft swingarm and G-craft caliper bracket you are running? I want the specific variables you are working with. You are running the single pot caliper above the swingarm, and not the crab caliper below the swingarm?

If you've got pictures, post them up and we'll get you lined out.

Did you already have the brembo single pot caliper from other application? Most of us run the crab caliper hanger under the swingarm and the better crab caliper that's cheaper and is a 2 pot opposing piston caliper for better stopping power. In USD, the single pot caliper is $50 more (25 quid) then the 2 pot crab caliper.

I know what your issue is. The caliper bracket and caliper is made for the 6 spoke wheels that has a thinner hub. I ran into a similar issue with my 3 spoke wheels. You either have to shave the caliper where it hits, or shave the wheels to create the needed clearance. You are only hitting by 1-2mm, right? If so, shave the caliper as it's cheaper to replace then a freshly painted wheel.

When your digital camera is back in action, post up some pictures or provide more information where this is hitting.

Re: My PBR/ZB build

In the next pic you can see the bottom of the frame. I had to cut that big hole off diagonaly in order for the rearsets to be fitted. You can also drill a new hole instead for the rearsets to fit but drilling would of reduced stength in the frame:

next pic shows G-Craft 8position rearset being witted with NSR125 master cylinder and G-Craft reservour

Re: My PBR/ZB build

You need to move your right rearset to the larger hole as your rearsets aren't even from side to side.

On the left, you need to drill a hole in the frame and on the right, you make a spacer to take up some of the space on the boss you cut off to reduce the size of the hole in the frame.

As it sits now, you have the rearsets at the wrong angle. It will work the way you did it, but isn't how they are supposed to be mounted.

Just my opinion.

Do you have a pic without the rearset on? On mine I made a steel plug and welded it into the frame to fill the brake hole. Then I drilled a new lower hole for the rearsets.

Re: My PBR/ZB build

I don't have any pictures without the rearsets mounted. I had a spacer made with a shoulder on the inside of the frame so it sits flush and takes up the extra space. The picture I posted was 18 months ago right after I drilled the hole and had my frame finished and before I moved to the triplesquare swingarm that is leaving my possession over the next couple of days.

I see what you mean. I just didn't want to drill holes in the frame. It looks like the left rearset is lined up with the right one. I might get away with it. I'll see what it looks like when the bike is fully finished. Thanks for the suggestion tho.

Re: My PBR/ZB build

What bolt did you guys use for the swingarm? The rearset and spacer adds a little more length to swingarm bolt?

The OEM Honda Monkey R swingarm pivot bolt for Monkey R rearsets. The G-craft rearsets come with a new Swingarm bolt.

Re: My PBR/ZB build

I used one that was provided for the kit. It the same as the bolt used for tightening wheels. The spindle is a bit loner than the front one.
