Re: Lifan 141 in my ZB...up and running in about 6 hours

Double post from the blinker pic thread, but since it is the build page, here are the new blinkers from ebay for about $40 shipped. Quality seems OK, not sure about waterproof though...

Yes, much better.
The old ones are huge...Instead of tossing the old blinkers maybe you can make them into mirrors for you bike.

Re: Lifan 141 in my ZB...up and running in about 6 hours

Installed new Kenda K413 110/80-10 front and 130/70-10 in the back
The front I think is too wide, as the turn in isn't as responsive as the old 3.50x10
The rear is nice and fat, barely clears the chainguard by 1/8"

That rear tire is much too wide for the rim and doesn't look to safe to me. The stock wheel shouldn't run anything wider then a 110/80/10. Anything larger is going to hinder performance and could pop a bead if you really are pushing that bike in the corners.

Wow, that's crazy Vlad! The 130/70 on that rim makes the tire look skinny.

depth perception Eddie

Z, I respect your seniority on this forum and your knowledge, but what is your point? Rim diameter is rim diameter, period. have you ever had a tire let you down, I mean really let you down? if that tire wants to let go, bring it on!

Kenda said it's OK to run on a 2.15 rim. other members are running 120/70s. I've ridden 35 miles in an off road race on the rim with a rear flat on my CR125 until the metal cords of the bead locked up in my rear sprocket, rotor and caliper and seized the whole thing up (Gorman Qualifier may 2006 novice class). People told me to just give up, you can't finish but i did, dragging my bike across the finish line, 2nd in my class.

BTW, a 110/80 is way too big for a stock tire. It is easily 3/4" to 1" wider than the stock IRC that Honda mounted 20 years ago. Do the math 110(mm)/25.4 (mm/inch)=4.33 inches. A 90/90-10 is much closer to stock size(3.54").

If i were to do it again, i'd get the 100/80 for the front, that's where the "turn in" response went.

Ditch the chain guard and get an RK 420 gold chain.

Re: Lifan 141 in my ZB...up and running in about 6 hours

I run 120/80-10 front and rear on my ct70. I think it handles just peachy and looks good too. At one point I had 130/80-10 front and rear on it. To be honest, I really liked them on there...like big balloon tires but didn't fit on the back right and the chain rubbed. Back to the 120-80's. There were on sale, so I got two pairs. I really like em.

However, I am going to put together a set of rims with the trials tires on em for when I go to the beach and trails. Not for my Green CT but for The schoolbus one.

I think the one you need has the 10mm air temp pickup. depends on the size of the spark plug thread. I think its the 702. I went a different route and got the liquid sensor, drilled and tapped the case to fit it. you can always get either sensor separately too

I need a new chain, but I'm keeping the guard. I like my chain well lubed but hate dealing with the mess

Vlad, how often are you "supposed to" or "do you" lube your chain and do you clean it first before lubing?

I make sure it's not dry. I use Honda white chain lube. I also aimed the engine breather tube right at the chain, so any oil vapor coming out of the crankcase gets on the chain. I clean the chain on my dirt bike every now and then, but not worried about the street bikes.

I also want to say the Kenda tires are sick and well worth the 25 bucks a pop!! They seemed funny on the street new, but once I got used to their characteristics and got broke in, the bike felt much more stable than the old ones. Real sticky once hot, never had questionable moment on my ride last weekend

What kind of chain will you be getting? Any particular type will work better? O-ring or non o-ring.
How are the 17/35 sprockets working out?

Tires look awesome.

Re: Lifan 141 in my ZB...up and running in about 6 hours

going non o-ring myself for sure. O-rings waste power, are more expensive than non o-ring but are lower maintenance cause they are lubed internally. w/ 10 hp I'm not too worried about chain life as long as it stays lubed. Being cheap like I am, I'll prolly cut a link out of mine and run it until it wears out some more or it breaks. I really don't even know what kind of chain i need if it's a 420 or 428. I thought its a 428, but tmas says 420. I don't know??

Sprockets are pretty good for top speed and cruising, although for some of the canyons it might be a bit too tall. I find myself revving 9000 or bogging. a 16 front will fix that

Re: Lifan 141 in my ZB...up and running in about 6 hours

The damn rattler china motor claimed it's 2nd casualty on my bike! the license plate cracked at the 2 mounting corners and fell off while riding. I couldn't find it. I put an ad on craigslist lost and found but i'm doubtful of the results. any other suggestions?
