Heidenau Tires on ZB

Took off my knobbie tires. They were rock hard. There were inner tubes inside of the tires which causes the inside of the rim to rust out bad. Required me to grind off the rust and repaint the inside of the rim.
I have taken tubless tires off a ZB rim and the rim was like new (no rust) on the inside.
The tires I replaced them with are the Heidenau K61 which is a real nice tire. The front is a 110 80 10 and the rear is a 120 70 10.

These pics compare the Heidenau K61's to the stock ZB tires.

Not to piss on your parade but they look awfully pinched in as far as the profile goes. What width rims are those tires designed for? They are nice tyres though.

They look too pinched to you 'cause you'd never think of leaning your bike over so far. some people do

I'm for sure going with a 120/70 rear and i'll try the TT91 90/90 10 on the front, see how it does/looks. Thanks for the info and pics tmas!!

110/80/10 is the recommended tire size front and rear for the stock ZB50 rims. 3.5X10 is stock, 90/90/10 is too small.

I agree, those 90/90 tt91s are way too skinny imo.

The ZB looks great!

the price was right...I'll at least mount it and see

Tmas, have you had a chance to put these tires through the paces and see how they handle? has anyone else used them?

K61's are in the top 3 in the world for high-performance street applications. I like them better then the TT92's and they come in more sizes. I run them on my 2003 Honda Monkey and love them. They are in the top 2 with their K75's 3.5X8 and 4.00X8's as well.

After you mount up the 90/90/10, you'll see the tire is too small for the wheel and you'll want to change.

I am running heidenau K61 sizes 110/80 and 120/70 on 2,5x10" tubeless rims on my skyteam monkey lmp (has almost the same wheelbase as a ZB). experience see previous post.

Re: Heidenau Tires on ZB

I'm probably going with a 4.00x10 tyre on my stock rimmed ZB. The IRC MB510 has been around for a while but never let me down. This site has a nice reference of 10" tyres with width and size.

I checked that site for width and height of the Maxxis tires, then compared the dimensions with the Maxxis website. The width listed on that site is off by over 1" and the height by 3/4" inch!! Not a big deal on a lifted chevy silverado, but on a mini bike where space is at a premium one inch difference is HUGE.

Just an FYI to everyone to double check specs before having to deal with returning a part

Glad you checked. I've noticed over the years that tire sizes can vary up to 10% between manufacturers.

Re: Heidenau Tires on ZB

Tmas,
What kind of chain guard/swingarm clearances do you have left with the 120/70?

What would a 130/70-10 look like? way too big or would it just not fit at all? I saw this maxxis M6029 and it would be cool to have a nice fat rear tire

With the Heidenau 120 tire on the back I have a little under quarter inch of chain to tire clearance with stock swinger. The pic below is a Pirelli SL26 130/90/10.Very little chain to tire clearance. Anything wider than a 120 you may experience tire fold over is sharp corners.

Hey tmas, can you take that exact same pic with your current setup (120/70 tire) please?

Re: Heidenau Tires on ZB

Oh and maybe a full on side pic and a straight front shot. I'm trying to see if one wheel looks tall than the other. I'm assuming they would not since you offset the side wall by using a different width.
