gstegman ZB update

Since I felt compelled to return Brad's Ohlin (thank's Brad) I was in dire need of a rear shock. I decided to try a 'hold me over for a while' shock and got an Asian Concepts from Ebay Auction. Upside is they got it to me really quick. It looks good, works OK.

I also received my front fender today in time to work on brackets over the weekend. While I am making progress, I still suffer from tiny headlight syndrome. I'm not feeling it so I have something on the way that will hopefully address that issue.

Thanks Motoshop Z for the fender and blinkers.

Re: gstegman ZB update

Sam, not really. It is supposed to be the same length as the Ohlin but it sits lower. I don't think it is squatting under it's own weight so not sure what is up. I think 220 or or 225mm would be mo' better.

Man that bike looks great! For NSR50 forks, the 210-215mm ohlins is perfect, but since you are running longer forks, you can get away with more length where the NSR50 forked bikes can't.

Love the fender as well. Nice piece of machinery..

Dan, if it makes the cut, you are more than welcome to add it to your gallery since it all came from you guys (sans the rear shock of course, did not want to offend) ...

Re: gstegman ZB update

Ernesto thanks and I would have swapped you for a ride. I want a plated CRF! And yes tmas, I need to figure out what I am doing for a speedo as well as a tail.

I managed to get the fender brackets mocked up and hope to weld them up tonight.

Re: gstegman ZB update

I found some thin aluminium strips that I snagged to practice welding with and bashed out a quick and dirty set of brackets until the real ones arrive. It does not put the fender in the exact spot but I will work as a stop gap.

I am now fendered up. Just need to make a tail so I can finish the paint....

Sweet! The welding begins.

The bike looks awesome. What hand light controls are those if I may ask?

Re: gstegman ZB update

Thank you and do you mean the left side silver control? That was sourced from FastMC and is from a scooter if I recall. It is a Honda part. Since the stock horn is round and this is square you have to solder just that button. The rest swap right over from the ZB control.

Re: gstegman ZB update

Yup the left hand controls. I just noticed that it has the clutch lever perch built in so it wouldn't work for me. It still looks sweet though.

If you are just looking for lights, would this help?

Re: gstegman ZB update

Actually I am looking for an alternative to the BajaDesigns hand controls as it's rather wide and my new ASV levers don't play together too nicely. It works but its not perfect.

The one you linked would have been perfect it it has the signal and horn switches as well since it's so skinny.
