Exhaust and wheel questions

Would you go with

for 250 euros plus shipping

or

for $350 and way less shipping. Bear i mind I will already be getting a tank from europe.

Also will the CT70 chinese wheel/hub assys sold on ebay as a pair fit the ZB? I like the idea of 4 lug rims and need new ones anyway.

Re: Exhaust and wheel questions

The stainless pipe is from the same shop that sells the PBR tanks in Europe. The black is takegawa, I'm leaning towards it. 12" rims might be a nice addition. I wonder if the PBR tanks are nice enough to chrome? Would be interesting.

Sweet rims. Drum brake? Would they bolt up to a ZB with minimal effort?

The pipe fits fine and added a little more power. It came in 3 days and free shipping. The guys at TBolt were great people too ! !

Re: Exhaust and wheel questions

Very nice, glad it worked out ok. Did you mess with the jetting to compensate for the free flowing pipe? I just got my CT70 wheels so I can run those juicy alloy split rims that Tmas showed the link to, we'll see if the come anywhere close to fitting the ZB. Got my 4.00*10 IRC MB510s the other day, will mount those on the stock rims for the time being.

Didnt mess with jetting, mine is all stock yet. Thinking of upgrading to a new engine so no to hurt the original one. Cant make up my mind what engine to get, auto or clutch. For now the pipe will do.

Okay, so I tried to fit a set of CT70 hubs to my ZB and not much luck. The front would just require some minor machining to use the stock ZB brake plate and get the wheel lined up with the frame centreline (I didn't have a CT70 backing plate to check with). The rear is a whole lot more work. The main problem would be sprocket alignment, it's WAY off. I stopped at that point. I just decided to pull off the stock stuff and paint it while I save up some $$s for a tank and front wheel. Here's a quick shot. As you can see, I'm not a huge fan of red

Re: Exhaust and wheel questions

Of course looking at the photos taken with a flash, I can see how much MORE work I need to do to make it look nice. I figure this winter after getting it all dialed in I will repaint the frame or maybe powdercoat it black. The seat is getting recovered black and I may paint the PBR tank some strange colour like metalflake green or orange when I get it.

Re: Exhaust and wheel questions

Just ordered a tank from Monkey Shop Raubling tonight, that's really the only thing from keeping me off the road. Of course a new front wheel, a pipe and then a larger motor but all in time!

Re: Exhaust and wheel questions

Received my tank today , 18 days is not bad for something from the other side of the world. Quality is not quite Honda but way better than most chinky stuff and definately worth the price. Only downside was no black tanks so I went with silver (I hate red). I'll probably paint it anyway. The gas cap fit perfectly. Now Tboltusa, where is my engine??? BTW, I picked up a parts unlimited stubby clutch lever and perch, it's almost a perfect match to the BBR front brake control I have and it was only $9.
Now to figure out where to hide my horn button and hi/lo switch.

I got a silver tank too. Notice how they are not painted underneath.

I didn't catch this thread earlier. For the love of humity, don't get the Takegawa Race pipe. It's the loudest pipe I've ever heard on a mini. Loud that gives you a huge headache and you can't hear yourself think loud.

Pass on that. In fact, I wouldn't get an up pipe at all. Get a down pipe as there's some really cool choices if you don't mind stainless and TI.

Re: Exhaust and wheel questions

Yes tmas I noticed that. Even more reason to paint it right? Z, thanks for the heads up. I have a race pipe builder near my house, he made multi tapere head pipes for my CB350 vintage racer for $100! I may see if he can make me a whole pipe for $200 ish. I have a TW200 pipe laying around, maybe he can use the muffler and modify it.
