It's a personal build. Doesn't look to be an actual company that would be producing them.

That would definitely be sweet though. I've thought about doing one. For some reason that looks to be a stock tank just wrapped and not all carbon fiber but that's strictly guess. Chances are it's all carbon which speaks for itself in the bling department.

Re: Carbon Fiber Zb tank...

I wouldn't mind getting a skyteam tank done with an "overlay" if it was not crazy money. It would last longer than a paint job and look slick. I doubt the weight would be a concern for me, it's the cost of a real CF tank would be ridiculous. Anyone have any connections to get them made for a reasonable cost?

Re: Carbon Fiber Zb tank...

you guys should reconsider my idea of adopting a smart kid from a 3rd world country. We could all chip in and send him to fab school, master CF molds, etc. It's a win/win, he gets running water and food without flies and we get cheap labor. The commercial says $1 a day, I am fairly certain I can cover that... Who has an extra bedroom or basement? Come on people, have a heart... We can even change his name to something cool like "G-Craft boy."

Re: Carbon Fiber Zb tank...

that thing looks alright, but it would look amazing with a carbon tail and some nice wheels like galespeeds or nsr 6 spoke. **** even zb wheels would look better.

Re: Carbon Fiber Zb tank...

Ive got a private message from "kowades" on another forum. those pictures you posted are his work. He mentioned to me about how he made his items. Its just a cover over the original tank that he made. Nice for the look but its not a carbon tank its a wrap cover.

Re: Carbon Fiber Zb tank...

so essentially, you can just vacuum mold the carbon fiber over the existing tank rather than buying a CF shell to cover it. wouldn't it be kind of hard to throw a CF cover over the ZB tank due to it's complex curves?

Brad, is that do-able to just vacuum mold CF over the existing tank? The CF is just for show anyway so a thin layer would do right?

Re: Carbon Fiber Zb tank...

I thought it was an "overlay" which I would happy with. I have seen some really good/bad overlay work. It's much cheaper than making a mold, and that's really what makes it attractive. It is real CF just layed over the metal, so it looks much better than the sticker stuff.

Check out this guys work, not as easy as it sounds...

Re: Carbon Fiber Zb tank...

supposedly there's a lot of overlay work here:
www.racingcomposites.net: Authentication Required
Quoted from that site:

Thanks man, I've been doing it for a while now so you learn a few tricks. I don't have a how to on the gas tank but I have a whole section dedicated to overlays on my composites forum: >>>www.racingcomposites.net: Authentication Required<<< You have to be a member to see it but there are a few how to's over there on the subject.
