| Auto Clutch Questions So I am 5% away from resurrecting the ZB from it's 8 year sleep in a mates basement. My 5% was the clutch. I really didn't expect any problems as I never seem to have any with all the other older bikes I mess with but here goes. The engine sat with the clutch cover removed for years. I flushed the engine out, ordered all the little missing parts and put it together. I didn't really pay attention to the fact that the clutch wasn't grabbing until I tried ot kick it over. Quick disassembly of the clutch revealed that the clutch plate material has either shrunk (no sign of slipping) or it has the wrong parts in it. I noticed in a Z50R manual it shows a clutch spec for up to 1990 and one for after. I thought maybe the ZB would be the earlier but after some searching on honda clutch partsmanual fiche zb50 monkey engine partslist it looks like the clutch uses the same plates as the 1991 and after. I'll go back and check the plates but I will order some from work tomorrow anyway. I also noticed that the ZB clutch springs are not the same as XR/CRF50 items. Are they stronger due to the fact it is a street bike and designed to carry a 16 and over rider? Will HD CRF50 springs help out? We have some Joker springs at work for the CRF50, looks like 5 springs are in the pack though ![]() |

| Re: Auto Clutch Questions Well I got the new plates, put it together properly, slapped in the joker springs and now it works like a champ. I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and get a PBR tank from Europe just to be safe. |
