Hey guys, I got a TB big bore kit and Im in the process of taking everything off, I dont know where to get a repair book....anyway I got everything off and the old pistons got a little hole in it from the exhaust valve breaking and launching into it. Anyway I took of the head and im down to the piston, but it doesnt look like the piston has any bolts to take it off...is it just stuck from not being cracked open in a long time? Im just wondering the best way to get it off

Remove the clips on the side of the pin. It will slide right out. Bikebandit.com has exploded views.

Chris, honestly if you are that clueless about the engine you will probably end up doing more harm than good. Take it to a shop and save yourself the hassle!

Easy there armchair quarterbacks and internet rambos... There is a first time for every one. You all didn't drop from the womb knowing about circlips.

So, look at the side of the piston. You'll see a hole through it, that's where the wrist pin hides. On each side are two spring metal clips holding it in place. There are a few different styles, but the idea is the same, the wire sits in a groove milled into the piston, preventing the wrist pin from sliding past. Remove one clip, and you can use a screwdriver to push the wristpin out from the other side. With the wrist pin out, the piston will lift off the connecting rod.

i think people should learn how to work on bikes/cars or w/e early in life

my dad had me redoing engines and working on our cars about five years ago when was like 10

Agreed, but such is not the norm... so you can't go bustin people's chops when they don't have the same background as yourself. Now, back to the topic, got that piston off yet?
