Getting a KLX140 tomorrow. Getting a new 140 tomorrow, and I have the front end down. I have a CRF150R front end that has been confirmed to fit perfectly. Also a new KX100 front end on the way off of Ebay. The top tree of the 150R looks like it will be easier to work with than the KX100 as far as making the little bracket that holds the starter switch work out. Reason being that the front of the CRF tree is flat compared to the V shape of the KX tree. So I guess I have the front down. I'm wondering what to do about getting the rear set up. I looked at it earlier today, and I'm wondering what's keeping a KX100 rear shock from working, and if I use some other linkage dog bones, maybe off of a KX85 or 100, that it would get some good action and travel out of the rear end. Anyone ever do anything with the rear yet? I saw that Engines Only is looking to have a KX100 sospension conversion kit out soon. I don't know if that just means the front, or both front and rear. I tried calling them today, but all I got was an answering machine. They may be on vacation still though. This is going to be one hot seller for Kaw after it catches on-- the bike is nice, disc brakes, KX wheels, a good engine-- it's priced right too. Looks kinda weird though-- but I'm concerned about how it performs, more than the looks of it. I'll have this bike done for less than $4000. That won't get you too far with a KLX110. I wish that it was kick start too. L*64

Re: Getting a KLX140 tomorrow. pjz400-- Come on dude... I sold a CRF150R to do this project. The reason that I wouldn't do a KX100, or kept the CRF150R, is that I can't get it into any pitbike races.... As a Vet rider, I'm allowed to ride a 14/17 inch wheeled bike that's air cooled, and a 4 stroke. I can ride alot faster on a bigger bike than I can a stock motored KLX110 with a pipe and clutch. It's alot more stable. I might as well take advantage of my old age-- pitbike races are the only place where I can get a break until I'm old enough to get my Golden Buckeye card at 65. Personally, I'd rather race a KTM or KX 65 with just springs in them-- it would be alot cheaper, and alot easier, and fairer-- but the Gods of Pitbike Racing won't allow it. So don't hate the playa, hate the game. ---L*64

Re: Getting a KLX140 tomorrow. Tony, My KLX-110(178 or was it 195, I can't remember) is going up for sale this weekend and I'm going after a 150R. Damn, I didn't know you were getting rid of one, but not that you need another 110 anyway. Oh well, if you know anyone looking for a fairly quick 110 let me know. It's a pretty good ride at the "pitbike" races. Dan

Re: Getting a KLX140 tomorrow. I have a KLX140L and i love it. I have already done the whole front end swap deal. First I used KX100 forks and trees and got the heaviest springs race tech made, performed way way way better than those stock forks but still seemed like them could be improved. As for the rear, I tighted up the rear spring some and comp. adjustment on 4. Was still bottoming out on the faces of some of my jumps at my track. So I started researching some more and found out the the CRF150R forks and trees would work. Found that race tech and BBR had plenty heavy enough springs for those forks. SO I bought a set of CRF150R forks on ebay and heavy springs from BBR, i think the are 4.4 Also found out that the rear KLX140L shock uses same spring as CRF150R also so I order the heavy rear spring from BBR also. Just put all that on yesterday. I have only riden it down the road, but it feels so much better. Think its going to work perfect. I'll be headed out to my track tomorrow with it. I let everyone know how it works.

Re: Getting a KLX140 tomorrow. I think that I read that a KX85/100 shock will not fit because the piggy back hits the frame. Pretty sure you could get the KLX140L shock revalved heavier cause its built just like the KX85/100. Oh yeah I also put the small wheel set up on my KLX140L 17/14 instead of 19/16

Re: Getting a KLX140 tomorrow. ^ well now.... that is one sharp looking bike. i thought about a bigger bike but the 250f is probably more than i need, and the 230's i would probably think there sluggish. so this is a interesting thread to me. keep ride updates please
