Gas Tank Spray Paint Does anyone know of a spray paint that can hold up to gas long term? I am wanting to paint my 1980 XR80 metal gas tank. Thanks

Re: Gas Tank Spray Paint Nothing that comes out of a can will hold up to gasoline fumes. Take it to a body shop and have it done. Even the spray with hardener in it (auto body supply shops carry it) probably won't hold up for the long haul. I'd take the tank, and the Honda paint color code in, and have 'em paint it right. Somebody that does Harleys would know what to do. ---L*64

Re: Gas Tank Spray Paint If you're trying to do it quickly and inexpensively via a spray can, then take the tank to an auto body supply shop. They can scan the tank, and come up with the color already mixed in a spray can in a day or two. Then they sell a clear that has a hardener that you put in it-- it will actually come seperately-- once you "inject" the hardener into the can of clear, you'll have about 20 hours to to spray the tank with the clear before the hardener hardens in the can. That route will cost about 40 bucks or so. You may get it done at a body shop for about 50-100 bucks. I'd try it first-- if no luck then DIY it as I described. ---L*64
