As far as breaking in the engine goes I started it let it warm up and did like 5 drag races up and back in a feild changed the oil and called it a day. The bike seems to run better and better every day. Had it for 4 months now and it as good as new! | |

Re: YX 150 Thread a quote from that website... What about "heat cycling" the engine ?? There is no need to "heat cycle" a new engine. The term "heat cycle" comes from the idea that the new engine components are being "heat treated" as the engine is run. Heat treating the metal parts is a very different process, and it's already done at the factory before the engines are assembled. The temperatures required for heat treating are much higher than an engine will ever reach during operation. The idea of breaking the engine in using "heat cycles" is a myth that came from the misunderstanding of the concept of "heat treating".

Re: YX 150 Thread we have to heat cycle 125gp bikes after we put new top ends, pistions, rings, etc.. if we didnt everything would seize or just get destroyed in a race. heat cycling is just letting your engine warm up the gradualy cool down then warm up and so on.. theres no heat treatment involved...

Re: YX 150 Thread why would it seize? he's not saying run james stewart laptimes in first gear just ride it like you'd race it. don't over rev it or you could float a valve. like I said ride it like you'd race it and change the oil frequently. DON'T RUN IT WITH THE OIL THAT COMES IN IT!!!!

Re: YX 150 Thread i doubt the a fourstroke would seize with improper break in but im sure heat cycling it would prolong the engines life. forsure change that oill CHINESE BREAK IN OIL!
