SSR 125 Help

I have a SSR 125 pitbike and it seems pretty slow. I was wondering what everyone has done as far as jetting specs on these? Mine pops on decel and has no power really. Seems rich? What sparkplug do you use? How big is the carb on this thing and what jets should I get for it? Mikuni? And where? Denniskirk?

I am also looking for a good shock if anyone knows of one.

Thanks

Re: SSR 125 Help

I found this bike at a really good deal so thats why I bought it. I just need help with a few things and it will be fine. What kind of pipe should I buy? I know the 50 stuff fits it, but with this being a 125 motor I would think the pipe would be restrictive?

Re: SSR 125 Help

Hello,

It would be best to know which 125 you have in your bike. SSR uses both Jialing (start-in-gear) and also Zongshen (neutral start). If it pops on decel, then it is lean on the needle or fuel misxure. We would need to see a picture of the carb to find out which setup you have ... It is likely a mikuni 22mm knock-off carb, which is not all that easy to find jets for. I would work on the mixture and needle first. You need to run an NGK C7-HSA (or CR7). Hope this helps.

Its a neutral start so Zongshen. Ill pick up a plug this weekend and see if that helps. I have messed with the fuel mixture and it seems to run the best at 1 turn out. Any more and it pops even worse. I will play with the needle also and see what I can do. I thought if it popped through the carb it was lean, through exhaust= rich.? Who does sell jets for these carbs?

Re: SSR 125 Help

Ok I replaced the plug. The old one looked good, more toward lean than rich. I found the plug wire is loose on plug and doesnt stay tight, this might be part of my problem. Also where could I buy jets for this thing to tinker with it? If it will not run with the choke ON, what does that mean? Also clutch cable is broken, what model honda cable will work? XR80?
