Shortening Pitster Forks?

Has anyone tried shortening up the Pitster Pro forks that come on the x4? I have just purchased a motard setup and think I'd like to ahve the whole bike sit lower...that means shorter forks and a shorter rear spring.

Anyone ever done this?

Yes all you have to do is make a spacer.

Re: Shortening Pitster Forks?

I have no idea what you mean by "spacer" so this should be interesting. I figured you'd have to hack the legs a bit...they do come apart, so I figured a little leg and a little spring and you'd be in business.

I look forward to seeing the pix PAX

Re: Shortening Pitster Forks?

Im thinking its a spacer that slides onto the fork damping rod? And the spacer limits how muc the forks will retract. But I dont know anything.

Re: Shortening Pitster Forks?

Are the upper forks tapered? if not why not just push them a little further up the trees?

Re: Shortening Pitster Forks?

you have to take the forks apart, pull out the damping rods ware the top out spring is add a spacer w.e height your trieng to shorten them with a space that long. if you have any questions give me a call at 818 897 0373

I think this will shorten them, but it will also remove the total amount of movement, won't it? I'd like to keep the movement...

Re: Shortening Pitster Forks?

Hey I have a solution. I have some of the newest fastace AS01 forks with the external preload and the black nitride lower legs on my kid's bike but they are a bit too short. I'll trade ya for the gpx's on your pitster then we'll both have the right height forks.

Re: Shortening Pitster Forks?

Jarred, I was gonna say, you might want to look into some 50 fork legs. maybe the pitster x2 fork legs. I have some AS02's you could try. the rear would prolly require a modified upper mount in order to maintain the travel. haha then you'll end up with basically a pitster x2 with klx plastics. it'll look sweet.
