New to minis, looking for advice...

I recently bought a Roketa 125 pitbike for $100. I put a little work into it and some new rubber and took it for a ride. So far, I've had fun...but the itch has got to be scratched! I usually ride my CRF250 but now I want to get into this.

Here's a pic for reference..

I was just looking for some more info on this bike and some of the things that can be done. I'm not feeling the auto clutch...is there any way to change it to a manual for a reasonable price?

Any help, advice, sh*t talking is welcome!

That frame, swingarm, and pogo stick look scary.

Re: New to minis, looking for advice...

Well the frame is identical to the CRF50 frame I have sitting in the closet. The swingarm is garbage in my opinion, and the rear shock rattles. It looks like it needs to be shimmed.

What are my options? I'll take any advice to get me going in the right direction.

I'm not looking to spend alot of cash on this thing. I might have to wait until I'm out of school before I can really spend some serious cash. I know this isn't a good starting point, but I couldn't pass up this bike for only $100.

I don't see what's wrong with this bike. I'm looking for some good aftermarket parts for this thing.

Re: New to minis, looking for advice...

that is a cool lookin bike for $100. depending on the motor it has, there could be some aftermarket parts for cheap, ie. big bore kits, cams, carbs, etc. etc. you just gotta look in the right places. good luck with your build.

Re: New to minis, looking for advice...

in my opinion its a good place to start, you have a bike and it goes right?
if your looking to get your mods going cheaply i would look on here to see who is selling what you need to buy. or if your wanting new parts check out the web sites of the advertisers on here. hope that helps some. And i agree swing arm and shock gotta go and get a manual clutch!

If the frame's the same, how about a set of original forks and swingarm? Make it look like a little stocker.

Won't that limit the travel it has? It has a 12" rear, would a stock swingarm work?

Anyone have an idea on what amount of oil these engines hold? I guess I could go by the sightglass, but I'd like to hear some figures.

Wow! No sh*t?

I was guessing this little 125 would be around a half quart.

Re: New to minis, looking for advice...

it probably is around half a quart, the cases on my 140 are huge and it is manual clutch. just drain the oil when it is perfect, and measure how much comes out. should give you a pretty good estimate of how much to put in. make sure you run it after you fill it with oil because the level does go down.

I'm not new to oil changes, but thanks for the advice. I'm a certified Kawasaki Tech so wrenching on these is no problem. Just trying to get some figures.

Thanks man.

holy sh!t $100 is a good deal if it doesn't kill you, ive seen places sell those things for like $699 + tax!!

if you need parts i think its the same as an orion 21g but i cant be sure...

for that price just ride the **** out of it and replace what breaks, you'll end up with a whole new bike after a week!
