Need help with Lifan 140cc Cam tensioner I need a little help with cam tensioner on LiFan 140cc motor. When I went to do an oil change last week I removed the small bolt under the motor that conceals a long spring with a piston looking piece. Apparently this is the auto cam tensioner or something. Once the piston started to slide out a little I pushed it back up in place with the spring and capped the opening with the bolt. The large bolt I now realize is the drain plug. I'm not retarded like my AVATARD shows....LOL. The motor is making a little knocking noise at idle and I believe it may be that tensioner? Does anyone have any info or diagrams of how that is supposed to be installed etc? Thank you in advanced Muxster ![]()

Re: Need help with Lifan 140cc Cam tensioner Anyone help with adjusting this Cam Tensioner? I read the Clymer Manual and on some models it says to let the bike idle then loosen the bolt that holds the tensioner and spring and the let the adjuster adjust itself until the motor runs quieter. Then is says to tighten the bolt. Does this sound correct? When I went to loosen the bolt under the motor that holds the tensioner, oil started running out, so I tighten the bolt back up immediately. I did not loosen the oil drain plug. Muxsyer

Re: Need help with Lifan 140cc Cam tensioner I dont think its your tensioner is your problem. By sliding it out and putting it back in should not affect anything. I would look elsewhere for your problem

Re: Need help with Lifan 140cc Cam tensioner sounds like your valves are out of adjustment.set lash [gap] at .003 intake and .005 on exhaust. search youtube for adjusting valve lash on a honda 50.that should get you started.oh and make sure you are getting lots of oil to the valves just leave the top cover off and have a buddy kick it over while you watch for oil at the valve springs.

Re: Need help with Lifan 140cc Cam tensioner Thank you for the info. I will check the valves for sure. The motor does not have alot of hours on it since it was new so things loosen up. That makes sense. Muxster
