Hi, I was just wondering what the part number is for the real vm26 carb. I know there is a lot of imitators out there and I just want to make sure the one I buy is the real one. one that I have found is part number VM26-8074. anyone heard of or used this one? thanks

Re: mikuni vm26 part no.

The carbs are quite different... even down to the castings. The 606 is the one that is sold for our bikes and has a pull choke and uses a bleed type needle jet. The 8074 has a lever choke and is probably jetted for a 2 stroke as it uses a primary type jet. We tried an 8074 stock and it wouldn't run, but when we switched to a #175 P8 bleed type needle jet it works well.

will the 8074 with a #175 p8 needle jet perform as well as a 606 on a mini? I have an opportunity to get one cheap but if it wont work as well as the 606 everyone is talking about then I wont get it.

Re: mikuni vm26 part no.

Get the 606 if you can find one. Mikuni is out of them and the new shipments to distributors isn't coming in until late August/September.
