Jialing 124cc cutting out @ 3/4-full throttle

I have an ssr jialing 124cc motor in my wifes pit bike and when ever it gets to 3/4-full throttle it cuts out real bad, almost like I was hitting the kill switch on and off. The bike runs great from bottom to 1/2 throttle. I have tried jetting but does not fix it. Could it be electrical? My wife is getting upset because it runs like crap when she opens the throttle and I'm not sure what it could be, any help would be great, thanks.

Re: Jialing 124cc cutting out @ 3/4-full throttle

When I tried raising or lowering needle it did help a little but not much. Is what the happened is I had bought the bike from my brother and I think it's an x-motos bike and he had toasted the tranny in it and so then he bought the jialing motor for it and had put his lightened flywheel, stator and all electrical oppenents from the bike onto the jialing motor, I have all the jialing electronics but they won't plug into everything on the bike, (coil I think) so I didn't know if the elec. components would be causing the problem? I will try going up on the main jet and see if that helps, thanks.

If it is a jetting problem, it would be the main jet. Might want to do a couple wot runs and check the color of the plug to find out if its lean or rich.

sounds too rich. does your wifes bike have a good flowing pipe and intake setup? what carb is on it? I would drop the main.

I never ran anything through the exhaust to check it but I will, I did grind the weld out but thats it. I think it has a china 24mm mikuni, I will check the jet out tomarrow afternoon and try changing the main. I did do a 3/4 throttle plug run with it and it was cutting in and out and the plug looked great but, I will try it again, thanks for the help.

when you say you ground the weld out... are you talking about a stock honda pipe?? Kinda restrictive on a 124cc engine with a big carb! That would also cause it to run rich/poorly. The better the engine can breathe... the more air it will pull in... the leaner it will run. This is why you have to rejet when you put a filter and exhaust on most anything. You may find that you can't get it to run correctly with a giant intake and tiny exhaust.

I had ground the weld out of the inside of the pipe where it connects to the head, I believe it is the stock pipe. What size carb should it have? A 22mm? I'm going to go check the jets out right now, thanks.

Okay, the size of the carb isn't marked on what size it is so I'm guessing it's a 24 or 26mm. The main jet is a 117.5, the pilot is a 20 and the jet needle is in the middle. So I hope that helps alittle into what direction I should go. Thanks again.

What color was your plug when you were doing the test runs? Should be a like a chocolate/tan color.

Re: Jialing 124cc cutting out @ 3/4-full throttle

Is it poping at all or just bouncing on and off. If its poping your for sure to lean. I had that problem with my 88 and literally depending on where i was riding it would do it or not. Also when was the last time you washed the bike. Ive had the problem of water getting on the coil wires causeing the exact same thing. Did you figure out what color your plug is yet?

Yes the plug looked choc/tan in color. It's not popping but cutting in and out like it was hitting the rev limiter real bad. So it sound like I need to get her a new cdi box, I have 3 brand new cdi's but the plugins don't match the wire harness.

take a CDI you know is good, move the pin sets on the connector so they are in the right order and go.

Well the harness plugin is square and the other cdi boxs I have are round, maybe I can grind the harness plugin round to make it fit, I'll check it out this week when I get a chance, but now I have to get her a throttle cable cause hers broke. If it ain't one thing it's another. LOL
