A few things.....

....I have noticed about my new X4. First does anyone know why the front brake caliper is unpainted and the rear one is painted silver metallic? Did they forget something?

Second, why does Pitster advertise the X4 as having a 900lbs rear spring and mine says it's only a 850lbs spring? Sorry not the best pic but you get the idea.

Third, Pitster advertises ALL stainless steel fastners. Not true. Many of the fasteners are zinc coated steel.

Re: A few things.....

if these are your only issues i'd say you are doing ok. you prolly don't really need that other 50lbs anyway. 95% of the people on PM prolly don't have their rear shock set up right anyway. I'm sure you'll be ok.

I would have to agree. For this kind of cash, I would have expected a bit more. Not perfect, but for God sakes. It's a brand new bike and I never would expect I would have to do so much just to get this thing running, which still is marginal. So far I have found 2 stripped bolt right from Pitster, graphics put on sideways and/or damaged, false advertising, lack of any service info or manual, false info in the owners manual. Which isn't even for my model bike anyway. Missing side fairing screw and rubber washer, and I have a feeling that it will continue. I'm not trying to whine, I just expected a bit more for this kind of cash. I will say it's fun when it's running OK, but 1 outta 5 rides arn't the best odds. Live and learn.

Re: A few things.....

Come on, man, these are good bikes, handling and quality. Calipers are fine, shock spring is no big deal anyways, throw a marzocchi or elka on it. Just go down to a local bike shop like Cycle Gear, they will replace the lost bolts with better ones, I pick through the parts bins at D&E Yamaha here in visalia, get to know the mechanics, they'll hook you up

YOU DON"T GET IT!!!! I bought what I thought was a better bike, SO I don't have to keep sinking every nickel and dime into a toy. What's the point of spending more money just to get more of the same!

Why is that? Wouldn't a heavier spring give me more options for adjustment?

You bought a bike that should technically sell for $4500 in my book. Most of the chinese bikes are such insanely incredible deals, I think it's fine to live with a few things.

First Xtreme CR107, they were sold for $1899 + freight and setup. With tax around here we're talking $2400 out the door. I got one of the first ones.

* Grips had chrome end caps

* Bars would bend if you looked at them wrong

* Bar mounts didn't fit the bars right

* Levers were off scooters

* Swingarm was laible to crack

* Frame would bend if you tried jumping it too much (I went through 3 of them)

* Shock was pretty light for most guys

* Forks were standard style forks, no adjusters, no clickers, nothing.

* Steel rims that you could flatten

* A chinese engine that like most of the others, like to lose 3rd gear

* Rear drum brake

* Easily bendable brake lever (mild steel)

* Heavy electric start

And we all thought they were a good deal. Sold dozens of them. Guys loved them and understood you just had to replace stuff.

Now, consider what you have. A fully built up pitbike with a 150 (or 160) engine, real forks, real shock, strong frame and great components. A GREAT deal for not all that much more than those Xtreme cr107s (which I still love, adore and miss). Stuff like a shock being 50lb different, the fender rubbing and paint missing is very, very trivial. It honestly wouldn't bug me in the slightest to see.

Think about all the guys who have had frames break, wheels snap, brakes FALL OFF, engines blow up etc. on their first ride and had no support. Pitster is offering support on these items.

You are getting a GREAT deal.

PS, I have never owned nor sold a Pitster. Just my honest, personal view here.

I have already talked to someone there about getting this thing running right, and what I was told was not even close.

Re: A few things.....

stupid f^ckin kids on this damn forum piss me off to no end.

do preventative maintenance on your damn bike and the f^ckin bolts won't fall out.

nobody's front caliper is painted including mine suck it up if that was such a problem you shouldn't have bought it.

I wanna know how much you weigh and I guarantee it's not enough to need a 900lbs spring.

I was just on the phone talking about kids like you. you are the kid who can't ride the bike you've got but can't wait to build your 205+r with your blah blah blah blah

shut up and go play with your GI Joes.

and this was for you KTM22

Thanks,
Its funny when guys call for parts, we can always tell the guys who have owned big bikes or ATV's etc.. example they ask for a complete front wheel, say its $120 they are happy as hell and cant believe how cheap it is!! Then the guys that have only purchsed ebay bikes or never owned a big bike or ATV you give them the same part at the same price and they flip out and think it cost WAY too much.
Our bikes are a great deal and so are the parts, try going to KTM, Honda etc.. and see what they charge, or try building a klx or crf to the same level as a Pitster x4 and see how much $$ it takes.
Anyway call me and we wil take care of you.
Gary
