Mines on. 170 w/V2 done by mark @AHP. Holy crap, huge difference.

Take care with assembly, check tolerances, test fit, clean, lube, triple check everything. Fresh oil right after break-in. Careful when kick starting. slowly depress the kicker till it comes up to TDC, with light pressure still on the kicker, one smooth continuous kick all the way through. Note: I allways open the throttle 1/4 to 3/8 turn. Lights up 1st try every time.

Word of advise, dont touch the throttle on start up or you will be replacing cases asap.

kick is more likely with an open throttle.

yeah i've heard. mine kicks back closed thottle. open the throttle 1/4 or so, no kick back, lights right up.

hack, have you ever checked the compression on your builds. This kit is accually quite low. 155psi. the stock yx 150 was 140psi with about 4 hours of run time on it.

So you your 150 before the 170cc setup then? I've read countless rave reviews on the 165 setup but I just feel like i'd kick myself in the ass for not spending a couple extra bucks for a few more cc's even though I dont really need the power anyways haha.

Thanks for the tips and review man, really appreciate it. Oh yeah, I did my research before ordering my bike and thats the number 1 thing i'm picky on is how I start the bike from TDC. I also give mine just a little bit of throttle and she fires up 1st kick every time, been wondering if I was the only one that had to do that though...

Try putting the bike in 1st gear and pulling the bike backwards until it stops. Put it in neutral and give it one swift kick with no throttle. It's much better than trying to go through to just below TDC with the lever.

you can never have enough power, it helps make up for bad ridin

You know, all motors aren't really the same( so to say). What works for one may be different for another. If you become one with the bike("miagi voice" DANIEL SON) It'll tell you what it needs.

Not sure if TB is still making the 165, may just be the 170 now. Just do it!

Plan on changing the piston after a few hours, just like the big bikes. Just to be safe. Change your oil every ride.

You know that kicker thingy on the right side of the motor, slowly depress until you get maximum resistance on your foot. I like to go just slightly(what feels like it ) beyond, And then kick through.

I have a 165 v2 and get huge kick back. Still not sure how to get tdc before you kick. Where does the piston stop on a unsucessfull kickstart?
