I definitely will need everyone to have more protective gear next time as I'll feel really bad if you get hurt. Another thing is if you do get hurt, it'll take a while for help to get to us. Cell reception might be a bit spotty up there.

I almost ate it on that hairpin because it's very different on a motorcycle than when you ride a bicycle through that same turn. I'm not used to the Panda on hairpins as it's very different in many ways from my NSR50 on the kart tracks. I didn't trust the stock 8" panda tires and I thought there was some dirt across the roadway.
Sounds like a plan. I'm gonna go to cyclegear this weekend and see if I can find a jacket at least. When you went up into the dirt... for a moment I thought you did that on purpose, lol.

You can try Berts Megamall or if you want the ultimate store, Chaparral in San Bernardino. I usually go to these place to try things out and order through ebay or somewhere online.

I screwed up the hairpin because I fixated on where I didn't want to go (bad bad thing). Most of my kart track crashes happened that way. If I was on a big bike, I would've gotten hurt. Luckily the bike is small and I got my feet on the ground like outriggers. Or imagine if there was a car coming the other way! Or if I didn't have the knobbies, or was going a bit faster. I've been on the kart tracks and do fairly well...but the street is a bit different...unfamiliar terrain, unfamiliar bike, unknown conditions...you know what I mean. That's why even on a mini bike, armor is just as important. Trust me, I've crashed a dozen times on the kart track and 25% of those were painful! and that was with full race gear on.

Yeah, I've been to bert's and I really wanted to buy the Shift SR-1 jacket. Been searching ebay for months but they never have my size. Tell me more about this ultimate store, Chaparral in San Bernardino, I couldn't find it on the net. The cool thing about CycleGear is I have a 20% off coupon after completing my MSF course but I don't think they have that jacket.

Did you race on the kart tracks or just learn/sharpen your skills?

Re: Griffith Observatory mini ride

>>>Linky to Chaparral Racing

It's off of the 10 and 215 freeways.
The place is huge. It's about 50% larger than Berts. Lots of parts and apparel and a huge motorcycle showroom. Let me know if you're going.

I did race CMRRA for half a season.
I also went to a lot of Saturday practice days.
You can go to Grange or Adams on weekday (some weekends) for about $20 for the whole day.
It's a great way to sharpen your skills.

Yes, Chapparal is like a big toy store for big kids.
Gotta carpool to save on gas. Gas has officially hit $4 a gallon (in Hawaii but that's still the US)

$4 gas, coming to a station near you...

It's only illegal if you get caught
