East Coast Street Ride...PA, VA, WVA, Washington DC?

I'd like to get a street ride going for some east coasters. If you've got a street legal mini capable of sustaining 50mph and you want to do some riding, let's make it happen.

I live just outside of Washington DC and would like to plan this event for western VA, Mid-Western PA or Northern WVA.

If you are interested in participating, please respond in this thread and include your email addy. Some weekend in the Spring or very early summer would be grand!

You're going to make me tag my motard bike...

Actually, I have everything to do it...just been slackin'.

Sounds like a great idea. Keep me posted. I know a few who may be interested in something like this.

I'm in northeastern PA, but I have a buddy in Owings Mills who I can crash with. I no longer have a fast streetbike, but my little Honda GB500 will make it anywhere you plan on going. Count me in and keep in touch.

Your motard would be killer for the street. However, since you built it from scratch and don't have a title, it may be tough. In Maryland, you should be able to apply for a self-build title. Then, all you'll need are a few items:

Voltage Regulator
Headlight
Tailight
Signals
Signal Relay
Signal Switch
Wire and terminals

Insure it and you can ride the bike anywhere.

One thing for sure, I don't think you could pick an easier bike to pass the test with!

Make you a deal...you get your license and I'll come down to Allsports.

Re: East Coast Street Ride...PA, VA, WVA, Washington DC?

when are we planning to ride? I have to get the permit first, then wait 14 days before i can test. aside from that, i would have to get my bike street legal.. which could take how long!

edit:

As long as i have my permit and i ride under the supervision of you guys (license holders for 3 or more yrs) then i'm good.

I'm way ahead of schedule on the knee. We're being pretty aggressive on the therapy, so it's looking like I'll be riding a month sooner than expected.

Deal then. Get your permit and I'll bring the bike down.

Cool...if it ends up being only us 3, I'm going to suggest we ride out in western VA through the blue ridge mountains, down to culpeper, and down to visit the Belmont Distillery moon shine place. It will be about 150 miles round trip. What type of range are on these bikes, Vetdan? I usually carry spare gas with me on my CT, but on my CL70 I do pretty good.

Ni idea. This will be my first on a mini. I'm usually good for 3-400 miles on a CBR1000. This should be interesting.

haha this sounds exciting. we need to set a date.. so i know if it conflicts with any of the trackdays and so i can break the news to my wife of what were planning to do.. haha.

i know my xr50 tank barely holds a gallon. i dont think it would be the best choice to ride distances.
