Racing in northern Ohio

Just to put it out there me and a few freinds will be running some laps at Fremont Raceway Park in Fremont OH. It cost $15 for an all day practice pass on wed or sat. Only requirments are pants, helmet, and jacket. We're going to try and get races organised for next year, for now we're just seeing who's interested. If your interested or live near by post up and let me know, or meet me at the track we will be there on sat afternoon.

Re: Racing in northern Ohio

I live in Brunswick, OH... Where do you live? We had Fremont on our racing league (Ohioysr.org) schedule until 2007. Unless you live like... 15 minutes away, or you're riding a stock 50, the track will get boring pretty quickly. The guy that has it is a nice guy, and the price is right too.

If you live somewhere near Cleveland-- head out to Beaverun. It's got to be one of the nicest tracks in the country as far as kart tracks go. We have a race there on September 6th-- why not come check it out and bring your bikes? No need to start a racing club-- there already is one-- check out the website. ---L*64

Re: Racing in northern Ohio

Does this look familiar? This was '05, our club has changed a ton since then-- there has been a motard invasion. It's a good thing too-- because the
events have gotten alot bigger, and growing.

Re: Racing in northern Ohio

I live right in town and my friends are only 1/2 hr away. We're running stock 90 xjr pitster motards, which I will post a review on them after some more time. The track will get boring after time I imagine but we are just getting into it. I'm definetly interested in running other tracks as long as the price isn't to high. Any other tracks up here in the north?

"I live right in town and my friends are only 1/2 hr away."

What town? Fremont? If you live right there then, ya-- have at it. It is a fun track if your bike is stock. Cheap too. Beaver is only three hours-- probably less away (it's only an hour and 25 from me- but I don't know what town you live in), and it's cheap too-- I think their practice is on Thursdays, and it's about the same $. If Fremont was 15 minutes away-- I'd go there too.

Plus, you can run the track with and without the little chicane on the side straight, or run it in the opposite direction. I always hated the raised curbs on the switchback part of the track-- they catch my knee sliders and want to rip my leg off.

I'm glad that you guys are making use of it--- the owner is a nice guy, and it's nice to see that you're helping to keep it in biz. --L*64

Re: Racing in northern Ohio

Yes I live in Fremont. I agree that the raised curbs have to go, I talked to Jay (the guy that runs it) and he was excited to see me and my budies there. We talked for over an hour. We told him about the raised curbs and that they are dangerous, he agreed and said he would try and get them ground down, and put rumble strips in instead. (Jay is one of the guys that runs it, but he dosn't own it).

Jay also runs a shop (Super Cycle Motorsports, LLC.) and liked the pitsters enough that he said he was going to order 6 or 8 of the same ones we run. Its kinda of fun have the same bikes, keeps the competition close.

Let me know if you ever plan on coming over so we can get together. Next year I'll probally visit other tracks, but for now FRP will do.

Re: Racing in northern Ohio

It would be cool if they put in a dirt section too. I had a good time on a bone stock NSR50 in '05-- but on a 14 HP Metrakit in '06-- actually it was about 20 HP back then... I couldn't get out of third gear. My second race I just ran my stocker, as the race bike was too hard to ride there. Post some pics of y'all tearin' it up-- and keep at it, it's nice to see guys making use of what's around. ---L*64

Re: Racing in northern Ohio

There will be four of us there sat morning 9am Sept 6, unfortinately I have to work afternoons so I wont be there all day but I'm sure my friends will hang around. We have bone stock 90 cc motards and 1 stock 110. Untill we get some better tires we're not running to quick. We're pushing the bikes as hard as they will go and end up kissing pavment each time we go out. I have a blast racing and would look forward to seeing others out there. Drop a line if your interested.
Future practices/raceing will be the same on each Sat for the rest of the season so let me know when you guys plan on coming out.

Thats up too Jay the guy who runs the place. He did say if we had some people that wanted to run on sunday to let him know. They normally race Kart on sunday, but I'm not sure if thats an all day every sunday thing. Let me know what sunday you guys want and I'll try and make it happen. If your up for any sunday I will see which ones are available. Keep in mind I work afternoon on the weekends so morning works best for me.

That would be cool, I'll bring this up next time I see Jay. They have some space in the back half of the track that would work great.
