-my XR100 Motard arrived from Japan today. check the pics! My XR100 Motard arrived today! - have not gotten a chance to ride yet - had to "work" tonight. The headlight - front cowl / speedo / turnsignal / ignition / rear brake light assembly will be arriving Monday. These parts were taken off of the bike before shipment - (my request). I have the following parts ready to install - (i want to ride the bike stock for a few hours - then compare the difference with new parts installed.) Takegawa 115cc stage 2 Superhead Takegawa / Keihin PE28 carb setup Kitaco high flow oil pump Takegawa cam chain Yoshimura TRS Tri-Oval exhaust Takegawa dipstick Takegawa "Allegri" large oil cooler hoses (Ape 100) Takegawa Super Oil Cooler Takegawa PE28 Air Funnel Dunlop TT91-GP tires -more to come...... - HID headlight kit (single H7) 9000k (bright purple / blue) *Im going to see about using the H7 single HID headlight conversion on the XR100. I am only going to install this if the ballast can be installed discretly, and completely out of the way. HID headlight on a mini? Not a first, i have seen plenty of Japanese Monkeys with this mod. click the link to see pics! Mods will be installed soon! http://planetminis.com/modules.php?s...view_album.php later, picklenose

So is it street legal in america? Thats kinda badass for being stock. Something about a midsize motard that is unsettling though. People will think....man....either that guy is really tall, or that bike is really short. How many ponies should you get out of it after all the motor work?

almost 4am on sunday morning & i - just got off "work." as soon as the ignition / lights arrive Monday morning, i will be able to give it a ride. i can't start it without the ignition switch. (not like a crf50; you can't simply unplug the ignition switch and the circuit will be complete and the bike will get a spark...) technically, it's NOT legal for road use in America - due to the VIN #. (not 17 digits) I am going to *pull some strings* and use a few favors @ the DMV and see if i can simply register the bike as a "custom build." I know that if the bike is inspected @ the DMV (they check to make sure the vehicle has lights, horn, mirrors, etc.) i can get the title "modified" to get it registered. I am going to get insurance, and i figured that even w' full coverage including theft, a 100cc bike can't cost that much to insure. as well, i have insured probably 10 sportsbikes with my insurance agent - and they will hook me up. the wheels used are NSR wheels; they are made of aluminum and are really light. i have a set of white ones on my CRF, and another set of red ones. i love these wheels - they remind me of the old school 900RR wheels or the mis-matched purple and yellow wheels on the CBR F3 smokin joe's replica. Motarded, i live in KY. T313M, yeah - the bike is somewhat small, but much larger than a typical "mini." It's actually larger than i expected. Looks like 2 riders would fit very comfortably. screw it - im short....only 5'7 - the bike will look perfect due to my size. i don't know what the exact HP will be with the mods - i have seen japanese dyno charts and the gain is VERY dramatic. i think close to 14 HP, is my guess. stock, the xr100 makes something like 6. later, z.

Motarded, i got a great deal on the bike; i called in a favor to a buddy. i think that the bike list for 304,500 yen in Japan. overdose - i have seen one site in the USA that is selling the xr100 Motard for $3800 new, not including shipping. yes, it's expensive, but keep in mind that it a new bike from Japan - that is considered "rare." i don;t know how many bikes they have imported. my guess is not many. if you need the site, PM me, or i will post it up. (i will have to find the site again) keep a lookout on Honda's website - there has been post that Honda *may* release a version of the xr50 / xr100 motard here in the states in the future. this may not be a valid claim; - but i have seen a few post on PM about it though. later, z

Usually, if you want to import them in from Japan, add up the following as a worst case scenerio: 1. Retail cost of the bike, new off the showroom floor in Japan plus or minus 20% depending on Dealer in Japan 2. Any taxes your buyer in Japan incurs when purchasing the bike 3. 10% buyers commission 4. Crating Fees ($50) 5. Transport fees to the sea port - Depends on your overseas contact. May be free, may be up to $200. 6. LCL Sea Freight Shipping from Japan ($200-$300) 7. Customs Document Transfer Fees ($25-$85) 8. Customs Merchandising Fees ($10) 9. Warehouse Storage Fees ($10-$15) 10. Potential Duties if you claim the wrong HTS code 11. Customs Broker Fees if you don't know how to import it yourself So, if you aren't familiar with International importing of grey market goods, you are better off purchasing one new from someone who imports them in through the grey market here in the USA. The bike will come with no title or paperwork, and technically isn't legal to import or ever title or register in the USA, and doesn't comply with DOT or NHTSA standards. The benefits are you'll be one of a few people that have them in the USA unless American Honda decides to sell them in the States.
