| Motard racing an X4? Anyone doing any racing on an X4? Looking for any tips and tricks to make it track ready. All pavement. Any changes to make it handle better? Rear shock feels very firm. Have not tested it yet but looking forward to running it at the local kart track. Been running a little Thumpstar and having fun. The X4 has the 160 motor. Any tips on this motor? Things to look for? Thanks, Tony. |

| Re: Motard racing an X4? If you're lucky, FastEddie will drift in and provide some feedback. He road raced an X4 with us in NH for a bit. I know he went to flatter/lower bars, think he stiffened the suspension a bit up front with heavier oil, dunno what he did beyond that.

| Re: Motard racing an X4? Change the fork oil out to a 10wt (don't go more than that though). And maybe a blue rear leverage block. It will drop the rearend a little. And for sure change the brake fluid. |

| Re: Motard racing an X4? i road race an 07 x4. dont worry too much on the motor yet. concentrate on suspension/tires/brakes. definitely change the fork oil depending on how much you weigh. 15-20wt between 190-200cc. c&r adjustments can be made accordingly once you get on the track and test-n-tune. if you already have the motard wheel set, get some good rubber on there. I use Dunlop TT92's fr & rr. lower bars help out too. i use renthal 7/8. this basic setup ishould be good enough for your first time out. have fun & wear protective gear because you will eventually fall. ![]() |

| Re: Motard racing an X4? Thanks for the tips. I'm a roadracer so always have my gear. You guys look fast standing still!!! My plan is to leave the motor stock (for now) and have fun. Suspension first. As for the brakes - they OK or do I need to upgrade? Lower bars will be good for me. I'm 5'4" so it will help. I have the motard versions with 12's on it so I should be OK. Where do you buy your race rubber? By the way - Nice looking bikes. |

| Re: Motard racing an X4? Thanks for the compliments. With the brakes, the minimum you should do is replace the stock fluid with some DOT4. The overnight rubberband bleeding trick works wonders too. I'm currently adapting a KX85 caliper becasue i can always use the extra late brake dive into the corners. you can get the dunlop tt92's from motorcyclesuperstore. 120/80-12 rear Dunlop TT92 GP Rear Tire - Motorcycle Superstore 100/90-12 front Dunlop TT92 GP Front Tire - Motorcycle Superstore |

Also are the tires you posted the same race compound TT92 that everyone is using? Seems awful cheap but, if it's them I'm on them!!!!!!! Thanks | |

| Re: Motard racing an X4? people say the vacuum bleeders suck, but i like them because they are easy to use. But on pitbikes, its not that hard to bleed them manually by yourself. pump up the brake and use a rubber band to hold the lever down as you go to bleed the caliper. repeat this until all the old fluid is out and the new fluid starts to run through. when your done, keep the rubber band holding the brake lever down at least overnight to help get all the residual air pockets out. mine tend to drag and fade by the end of the race day. I'm working on mounting a RM85 caliper now. I feel i lose alot of ground in the braking zones by having to brake too early. yeah, the TT92's from that link is the same place i bought mine. Their prices are cheaper but they do charge you an additonal fee for shipping tires vs. shipping normal goods. not much though. They were sold out for a while so i would get some now if you need them. |
