For strictly road racing is the Takegawa CR tranny (4 speed) too limiting on top end? Figure first is only used at the start, 2nd is the same, 3rd is not much different but 4th is MUCH shorter.

stock 4
1st Gear 3.272
2nd Gear 1.937
3rd Gear 1.350
4th Gear 1.043

CR 4
1st Gear 2.623
2nd Gear 1.937
3rd Gear 1.437
4th Gear 1.300

Oh. Well.. Um.. Yes, perhaps the 4spd would be better.

i've got 2 of them.
will be FINALLY doing my first race this weekend with it.
i've ridden it..... but not raced it. the final ratio is the same.... but it should get there quicker. with 15/37.... which is the tallest gearing i've EVER had on it.... it felt FAST. not quick.... but high top speed. (this was in a parking lot, by myself, so hard to gauge) back to a 14/37 for this weekend.....

138+r with 6 speed. we'll see.

on the CR 4speed.... i think its too close. i think i'd stick with the stocker 4 gear.... unless you're riding some places that seem like you're stuck with gearing.... i think the 4 Cr is not good for pavement only apps.

I say stay with the stock stuff .

I'd rather have the taller top gear and then re-gear / fine tune it with sprockets .

That's what I'm gonna do with mine .

I think you guys are right. With a 120/80/12 rear and 14/39 we ran out of gear in 3rd with a basicly stock motor.

I'm about to build my motor big so i think it'll pull the stock 4th no problem.

That stock should work pretty good. That is the same ratios as a YX150 bottom end. I have a 135cc cylinder with the TB v2 roller head on it and it works good. Then gear it for the track you are on.

Re: KLX110 road racers; CR 4spd or stock gears?

just add the Takegawa 6 disc clutch and primary gear and you will gain a lot of topend. The final drive ratio is alot taller with this setup.

Two birds with one stone? Heavier duty clutch and higher gear ratio.
