Kawie KD80X Help Hey guys! I know there is not a whole lot of 2 stroke love around here but I'm looking to motard out my little KD80X. I've got a few questions. Does anyone know anything about these? I want to build up the engine a little bit but I don't know how hard it will be to get parts. Do you think I can find a piston for it? Maybe a nice little port job and mill the head? I'm sure if I let it breathe a little bit, it might come to life? Do you think anyone makes a pipe for it? How about tires? The rims are 10"ers but I dont want anything too soft because I do want to run it around the streets. I was looking at a set of blue tires on e-bay but I dont know much about them? Are they worth a ****? I think they are like $20 a shoe. Any help will help. Thanks, J

Re: Kawie KD80X Help I like the bike...I know nothing about it but looks pretty basic to me. You shouldnt have a hard time doing work on it exept for finding parts...Good luck with the motard project. Id like to see some pics in the near future.

Re: Kawie KD80X Help I love those things myself! Kaw needs to re release it with a KLX140 engine in it, and have it street legal! They have the KSR 110 in other markets. The engine in that KD80X is the same one thats in the 80's KDX80. I see alot of those engines on Ebay. You should still be able to get those engine parts from Kaw. I'm not positive, but I'm thinking that it shares alot of parts with a KX60. The original KX60 was air cooled in '83 and '84. As far as hop up parts-- that'd be a stretch. You may get a KE100 piston to work, but it would barely be worth the effort, as the cylinder would need sleeved and bored. Wiseco should still make a piston for that bike if you can't get it from Kaw.

Re: Kawie KD80X Help One of these? ![]() I love those little bastards! I was just on mrcycles.com site looking at parts. 83-88 KDX80 Wiseco should fit. Look at 79-83 KX80 for a wilder ported jug, bigger carb manifold, etc. Pipe would have to be custom made. A guy in New York, not enough coffee in me to remember, was making trick one-off 2 stroke pipes. No reason to think you couldn't make 15-18 HP with one, and tear up some thumper azz
