| I need more top end speed I'm running a KLX110 with a KX65 rear hub. I've got enough power to pull me down the long straights. But I run out of rev/gearing. I switched to 15/39 sprockets and just could not get enough top speed. The bike had enough power to push, just ran out of revs. Short of buying a whole new rear wheel and spacer set-up... I'd rather find a way to get the little bike to have a higher redline. I think I found the rev limiter in the stock CDI ![]() Any advice?? |

| Re: I need more top end speed Tokyo mods cdi or inner rotor. or go back to stock rear wheel, I have a 30 for it. Ohh and you can run a 16 on the front! I hit 80 on the GPS with 16/30 |

How was your drive off of the corners with previous gearing and current gearing? The answer is going to be to go to a ratio that is a happy medium. The first and cheapest change would be to go to a 16t front, and see if that works on your track.

I'm not practiced enough yet to get full corner speed. But the 15/39 seemed to give enough drive. I was shifting more often due to dropping an extra gear going into the corners. Still getting used to the cramped space onthe little bike. Makes for tough shifting when your cranked over. And I just can't get my head around the GP shift. I'm having a hard enough time with neutral at the bottom Haha... The bike runs offroad more than road racing. So I don't want to go back to the stock hub. I may look into what it would take to fit up a KTM hub/brake. Does the IRK extend the redline before rev limit/ What cam will run higher revs?

| Re: I need more top end speed 16/39 is the tallest gearing that will fit stock. A 38 will fit but you have to grind the rear hub a bit for chain clearance. I too ran out of gearing at E-Town last year with my 150+R at 63mph. This year with a much more powerful bike(I hope) I am considering fitting a 50 based rear wheel with the correct spacers to get the available smaller sprockets. I will be looking into a billet import hub(chinese stuff) as soon as I get my new engine issues sorted-out. |

| Re: I need more top end speed I'm making a change... to the top end. I cracked a piston so I have some work to do. I think the failure was related to my mechanicing learning curve and not the parts fault. I am limited to 150cc. I have a 55 stroker so I have to stick with the 59 or smaller bore. I am looking at going with the 134 (58mm) and a std TB race head that has been ported by AHP. I know there is better out there. But my wallet says NO! Any cam advice? |

I can be a cheap ass and buy used parts and run them till they blow! I had enough power to get the job done. I just ran out of top end on the straights. The little 2 smokers were well... smoking me!

| Re: I need more top end speed Well then get the Takegawa 6-disc clutch and it has a different drive ratio and gives you a 10% increase in gearing. Its not that cheap, but for a 10% gain, its an inexpensive mod. |

I see on CHP's site it decreases the ratio and results in a 14% improvement in top end. Thanks w650, I think that is what I'm looking for.... Last edited by mo' tarded; 05-20-2008 at 10:59 AM.
