Hey Mod's help the vendors a little (Nice post)

Mods I see this happen a lot and I think it hurts your vendors to some degree. As a paying vendor they should have a larger mailbox than the average bear. Maybe they already do but it's still to small. If possible you can give them a very large mailbox with a auto delete. After a month, two weeks, whatever the messages get kicked out unless the vendor moves them to a save file. Just a thought because I'm always seeing "Hey ---- clean out your box!"

I know the space isn't free so that's why I said vendors. They probably get a lot more PM's compared to the average member. Don't vendors already pay for the priviledge to advertise? So they're not getting something for free. I also realized fatman you may have been talking about the more space for everyone. I don't need it I just get off ly butt and clean out the stuff I don't need.

As reputable companies, vendors shouldn't rely on Pm to do business. Pm is for promotion of items and products as well as some tech support. Email and Phone are the best ways to conduct business and the vendors understand that. They don't rely on private messaging on a forum to run their businesses. We are considering an auto-delete for ALL members. Private messages take up about half of the daily activity and space already. If specific vendors have issues with not being able to keep their boxes empty (without having the 50 some odd ones stored from months past) and actually get 100 pm's in a week then they should contact Nick and he can discuss boosting their message count. MOST members feel the need to hold messages from months ago and don't regularly clear their boxes. That is the reason for filling up, not the fact that they don't have enough space... People are just pack rats.

I agree, except for the fact that there are many customers in this world who prefer to do business over the forums. I have no problems with this, cases where this is actually helpful is overseas customers, or quick sale items.

I am all for more PM space, I am forced to save a lot of mine when people delete previous bits of conversation and I sure as heck cant remember everything they expect me to about what they told me last week and what they decided on today.

Yep auto delete from the main space unless you have a storeage folder which can hold the message but also counts as part of your allowed space. Like AHP said I like commo over the forums there I can remember who I was talking with about what. In my email I rarely check it and it fills with crap and filter it is not as easy as it use to be.
