stroker question

Is there any reason why I shouldn't put a stroker crank in with my new tb165 scut kit?
I know you have to bore cases... but... is there any reason not to put in a stroker crank besides that? Does it hurt my top end?

What are the benefits? Just more low end torque or will I see improvements in other areas?

I have all the parts including the stroker... I'm just deciding whether I want to be impatient and slap everything back together so I can ride... or... if I should be patient and send my cases out to be bored...

Re: stroker question

I have the 178scut wit the 55mm stroker. I rode wit just the 178 for about a month then we put the stroker in it and i love it. It made the bike alot easier to ride basically it just mellowed the power out across the Rsss. But it did add alil to the bottom. Hope this helps.

I'm having a hard time understanding this...
"Mellowed the power" means less power to me... but that can't be what you mean. I thought the stroker will basically add more torque... which I would think means it would be less "mellow".
What is Rsss?
Sorry for my ignorance and thanks for the insight...

Re: stroker question

Sry for my lingo Rss is the RPM. The stroker seemed to slow it(RPMs) down alil. And when it was just the 178 it was preeetty snappy (kinda lika 2 smoker) but the stroker just evend the power out. And yes that thing frikin RIPS. I aint braggn but that bike hasnt lost a hole shot yet!

Re: stroker question

Man...
Part of me wants to just install the 165 kit without anything else... Then try the different combos of adding the v2 head, 28 carb, stroker, exhaust, etc... Then maybe I could wrap my head around what these different mods do...
However, the rest of me (the part that has some common sense) wants to just install everything together at once and get to riding...

Re: stroker question

Its deffinetly easier to do everything at once i wish i would have. But by next week ill have the 165 in mine with the stroker. My 178 is wore out its blown oil bad so i wana try that new motor so if u dont stroke it let me know and ill let u know how it is wit da stroker.

I think that is your best option.

Re: stroker question

u would have more low end but it wouldent be really noticable and no it wont hurt ur top end. it would almost be the best option

Strokers add torque at the expense of RPMs. The loss of RPMs can make the engine feel mellower, especially on the top end.

v2 head will do more than any of the others you listed IMO

Thanks... I've done some research and learned what is actually happening with a stroker crank...
It makes sense that the stroker has more torque and less rpms due to more leverage and farther travel...
Anyway... all parts are going in within a couple weeks... Thanks...
Funny thing is I have a feeling a might add a s35 dcomp down the road to rev more...
