Re: Roller Rockers

No. Not much reason to, either. The port is why the +R and V2 make more power. The roller rocker is a sales gimmick. IN THEORY, the ramps can be made more aggressive. In practice, it sells well.

Re: Roller Rockers

But most roller rockers are aluminum, so there lighter correct? That = less power to move the part = a small hp gain.

Re: Roller Rockers

Overall weight at the tips might tilt in the steel rocker's favor

It takes a lot more aluminum to do the same job as steel.

Re: Roller Rockers

ok, but wouldnt a roller roker create less friction than a normal rocker?
that would mean a lil more hp..

Re: Roller Rockers

True roller tip rockers; prevent friction and the side loading of the valve stem.

Look at the exploded view the current performance cycle engines and see how many use them. The rocker rides on a thin film of oil, not metal to metal contact, or failure would be instant. The frictional losses are miniscule, and the added weight of the roller has to be pushed up & down adding resistance. Might even require stiffer valve springs, adding more resistance.

Re: Roller Rockers

oh, that makes since. i was just thinking it wouldnt have as much friction because rolling friction is less than sliding friction (science class..) but what you said makes since...

so it really kinda evens out between a roller head and a non roller head, if they had the same size valves.
