has this ever happened to anybody?

today i was riding and i slid out on the shifter side and the shifter just fell off, and the shaft that the shifter is connected to cracked off along with it. anybody know any idea how much this will cost and wut i will need?

Just replace your shifter shaft. A short shift shaft is somewhere around 60.00. Plus you might want the left side cover gasket as well. You can do it w/o splitting the cases.

must be a pre-05... upgrade to a late model shaft or quick shift shaft

this has happened to me and my cases split and was a hefty price to fix

go with chp quick shift shaft i put it in mine much less movement between gears and you have to take the clutch assembly off to get it in

the stock Kawasaki part # 13161-0019 will cost you around $50.99. I'd go with the CHP quick shift, but make sure you get an '04 and up shift lever at the same time.

not sure if they come with a new seal, but if not you want the new seal as well. I assume that the updated larger diameter shift shaft will fit in the older cases? Just some thoughts.

A new seal is always a good idea and the only difference in the two shafts is the splined section on the end where the shift lever clamps on. The newer shaft is bigger. Everything else is the same.

BTW, that part number I listed earlier is for the '04, I think that's still the smaller diameter, I don't think they got bigger til '05. My bad.
