Hi The other day I was riding, and I had to go pretty hard on the brakes. I was pushing firm on the pedal and all of a sudden it "broke loose" if you know what I mean. Now I can push my brake pedal a lot further down and it does pretty much nothing. I don't really know what worn drum brake shoes look like, but I'm guessing these are VERY worn. (my brake doesn't work at all) It doesn't matter but in case you wanted to know the bike is a CT110 and I'm pretty sure these pads have been the only ones on there for the whole of the bikes life (32 000 k's) The shoes seem to be pretty much bare metal now... is it time for new ones? Please no stupid comments, I just need an answer. Cheers ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Worn brake pads brakes? CT110 From your description I thought I was going to see the friction lining separated from the cast metal backing part of the brake shoes (I had that happen on a Z50 shoe, although luckily it happened from dropping it, not from a panic stop). But it doesn't look like that happened to you. It looks to me like you still have enough material for the brakes to at least sort of work. Are you sure one of the brake arms isn't slipping on the splines when you squeeze the brakes? Are the anchors that hold the backing plates still loose or anything? What does the inside of the drums look like? Did you, ah, break a cable, maybe? The "suddenly let go" part of what you said is what I'm wondering about.

Re: Worn brake pads brakes? CT110 Sand off the glaze and keep using those pads. The problem with your brakes is elsewhere.
