Vintage Mini race sponsored by TBparts.com -- 10/18/2008

Vintage Mini race sponsored by TBparts.com -- 10/18/2008 2UP Minis is having a Vintage Mini race during the 2008 East Coast Pitbike Nationals on October 18, 2008 at Mountaineer Raceway, WV. The Vintage race is being held to showcase the roots of pitbikes and provide owners of these bikes an opportunity to actually race them. Since this is more of a fun race and we are hoping to attract a lot of vintage minibikes, the bikes allowed to enter the race is going to be wide open (basically bring what you have like an actual 1970's minibike race). Models to include, but not limited to:

Honda Z50 (1968 thru 1999 since essentially the same engine and no mono shock)
Honda QA50
Honda MR50
Honda CT70
Honda SL/XL70
Honda XR75
Honda ST90
Kawasaki MT1
Kawasaki KV75
Yamaha JT1/2
Yamaha GT80
Suzuki Trail Hopper
Indian Minis
Harley Minis
Sears/Other US Minis

Additionally, this race is being sponsored by TBparts.com and they will be covering the entry fees so besides the track gate fee ($10), the race itself is free to enter!!!

If the turnout is good and the riders want more vintage races, please let 2upminis know as there is a good possibility a vintage class could be added to the 2009 2UP Minis Pitbike series (9 races - held spring thru summer).

So, dust off your vintage garage queen and put it to good use! While there, you can also check out the top pitbike racers in the country bang bars for 7k in purse money!!

Now that is most excellent. I wonder if I can somehow manage to keep the baby in for another couple of weeks so I can go to this.

That is a great idea for a race! I hope it works out and becomes a regular thing.

I'm too far away. None of your East Coast guys want to bump bars with your vintage ride?

I'll will do my best to get the 1980 XR together for this. It will be fun! I used to race some back yard events with these bikes and yes, it's a lot of fun.

Re: Vintage Mini race sponsored by TBparts.com -- 10/18/2008

If my wife wasn't ready to pop any day now, I'd race my xl70.
I have to get some pictures of this someday for you guys to see. Its got a 17" front wheel on it and a 14" WIDE rear. Running an x4 150 header coupled to a supertrapp muffler. Motor is an xTreme 131cc with BVH, z40 cam...

Updated rear forks, updated rear shocks. Geared 15/40 and plenty fast for a vintage. I use this bike in the Coal Regions of NE PA and have taken this on extreme 70 mile excursions (not with this motor though) through creek crossings, mud bogs, culm (think DEEP wet sand, only black) and up steep ravines.

Not claiming to be much of a racer, but I LOVE this bike.

Re: Vintage Mini race sponsored by TBparts.com -- 10/18/2008

i was there and it was a good turn out with several newer (92-99) z's. There were several people in the pits with some really nice modded xr 75s and some ct's here and there. Even though razzo skipped out on us for work (i think he was afraid to get beat) some of his team mates from razzo moto showed up and hung out and took a lap or two but i think the track may have been to rough or they had a couple to many cold ones to take all the abuse on the track. There were only z's on the line with the exception of one cl 70 in the first moto and i ended up winnig that race. The second moto had to xr 75's with 115 kits and i had my hands full. i ended up getting second but i had to really work for it and if it wasnt for one of the guys falling i think we would have banged bars all the way to the finish line. it was a great time and a nice turn out and i hope they do it again

Afraid?? I knew I would get beat! You damn young bucks! Heard you had a good time! Yeah, my boys tend to drink too much before. Heard they got caught standing around. They realized the race was on as everyone came by! Scott made it out for the last lap! Blame it on the Coors. Glad to hear you went 1-2 for the motos! Congrats Travis!!
