| Replace KO engine with XR70 or Chinese? Have a 1971 CTKO model, recently rebuilt top end with all OEM honda parts including Honda "Hot" cam. Marginal improvement only. I live in hilly areas and just need more power as 25mph (2-up) on a 40 mph road isn't cutting it. Here's the question - I have a late 90's XR70 engine which I can beef up to 108 cc or is it better to just buy a new Chinese engine and pop that in? Whatever choice I make it must be a semi-auto (no clutch) as my wife drives the bike occasionally. I can keep my original engine for resale later (if ever). I also want to use my original exhaust to keep the stock appearance and I know that I'll have to deal with a lighting coil and 12volts in either of the replacement engines. Gurus, your advice please. |

| Re: Replace KO engine with XR70 or Chinese? Pitster is selling the 90cc autoclutch with E-starter for 295$ and is a direct bolt in. and should have the power you need. edit: oops I was thinking of the xr75 vertical engine (never mind) Last edited by RLucky82; 10-02-2008 at 10:10 PM. |
