Don't you need to 2 metal bars sticking out of the frame with rubber things on them for it fit?

Re: qa50 whith xr50 engine

i dont know if it will go right on, looks like you know what your doing with fabbing mounts so i dont see an issue with getting a z tank and putting it on there. Your doing exactly what i wanted to do. I wanna say somone on here put a huge motor like a gpx125 motor or somthing it had a neon green frame and looked so awesome.

Re: qa50 whith xr50 engine

Just keep in mind the bike is going to be a death trap at high speeds. Short wheel base, small tires, no suspension. Take some videos at 55+mph when you are tearing it up on your bike!

QA50 tanks are pretty cheap on ebay as most of those bikes are worth next to nothing unless fully restored.

Wow, quite the project you got going. I think the reason they wont ship to Norway is because wasn't there some whacky Ebay scam that originated in Norway, now noone will ship there.

If there is one on ebay that you want, someone on here may be willing to buy it and then ship it to you.

I'll measure the tank mount pegs to front seat bolt on my k2 hardtail Z50, if that will help?

Re: qa50 whith xr50 engine

wHICH Z50 TANK? Hardtail style? Softail style? Monkey bike style? mid 90's style?

WHich tank do you want measurements from?

Sounds like you want to use a softail style tank. I've got a beat up one I'll send to Norway!

Re: qa50 whith xr50 engine

I measured my spare K2 hardtail frame, and the center-to-center distance from the tank mounting pins back to the front seat bolt hole is about
12-1/4", or 311mm. Measuring along the top of the frame spine from the back of the head tube to the center of the tank mounting pins is about
1-1/4", or 31.75mm.

Honestly I think your project ought to get a QA50 tank. The tank and ass-high seat kind of makes the look with those bikes. With a Z50 tank it's bound to look like a Z50 with really small wheels. Just an opinion, of course, but surely someone would be willing to ship a QA tank to you with a little searching? I would, if i had one to spare...

Hope to see more of this bike as it takes shape!

Re: qa50 whith xr50 engine

I have a qa50 tank that I have no use for. It is not that rusty either. There are i think 2 little dings in it and otherwise it is in good shape. It doesnt have the black band around the middle like some of them I have seen, but I might be willing to ship it to Norway. I am not sure what is involded in international shipping, but it wouldnt bother me to fill out some extra paperwork. Let me know if you are interested. I will get some pics of it if you are interested.

I actually prefer the look of the qa50 tank to the z tank. I was actually thinking about using the qa50 tank on my z50, but I decided not to go to the trouble.
