| new motor, new carb, need help... ok i have a 1983 honda z50 all stock. i recently rebuilt the motor ( new valves, new rings, cylinder honed, and all new gaskets) and the carb that i had was really old so i bought a stock xr50 carb and put it on there. put everthing on and now it will start but the carb has to be choked for it to start. it will not idle and it will run at high rpm's with the choke on, and whenever i take the choke off it will die almost instantly. any suggestions to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated. thanks |

| Re: new motor, new carb, need help... Check your air fuel mixture screw and reset it to two and half turns out. Also lowering your needle might help get the bike started. I would check the mixture screw first and then adjust your needle. That should get it running, then check your jets to finish it off. |
