Think everything through... don't rush the purchase... you should figure out what style of lighting you like and buy the tools to accomplish that style... For example different light modifiers produce different looks and different quality of light... For all I know you don't like the soft even light that a softbox produces... You have a ton of options so take your time and enjoy finding your style...

Also... the background papers that I recommended (53" wide) don't work well for more than one person... it's hard to even fit one person on it for a standing full length pose...

But... that size is cheap and you can get a big variety of colors that don't take up much space and don't brake the bank... If you can store and afford wider papers get those... If you find good, cheap backgrounds that seniors would like as much as solid papers, let me know and I'll get some too...
