You just need to try different pilots and play with the needle clip position. We have a couple of these carbs and none of them are the same jetting. Some guys find a 20 pilot to work well where ours will not run on that pilot. Once you get the pilot set and needle clip position, the carb works quite well. We also found the air filters for a 26mm carb seem to fall off easily but we put a Uni filter from a 22mm carb we had on ours. They go on a little tight but they don't fall off.
