I've ridden Sportsters for a while, and took my first rip on an '02 CBR600RR.

Powerband was amazing, and definitely was a white knuckle ride. Didn't kick in until 8K, but pulled like a mule up to 15.5K. Shifted out of first gear at 71 mph.

If you get the 600, I think you'll be happy. Respect the power and try not to get bitten by the cement.
