| Re: Racing Gas once you get around 170 psi you need to start looking at race fuels.. if running it in your stock bike you notice a decrease in power that is because you have to rejet. Get the jetting set for the high octane and you'll notice a bit better performance but nothing to justify the cost. In some gas stations you can find 100 octane on pump for about $6 a gallon it does the lower compression motor good, keeping the system a lot cleaner.. And it smells good also! save to 110 for the weedeater you can let that stuff sit all winter without the carb gumming up! Last edited by AFROracing; 09-02-2008 at 09:41 PM. |

* High compression-use high octane. * Normal compression-use pump gas. Did an experiment in fleet services. Tried our gas vehicles on Supreme for 1-month. Then on 87 octane for 1-month. All but one got better gas mileage on the 87 octane. The 1 that worked better on 93 octane was a Cadillac with the early overhead cam front drive. What compression to start looking at race gas depends on combustion chamber design, ignition timing, and actual mechanical compression (not just psi or static compression). Mechanical compression is effected by both swept volume (engine size) and cam timing. Not a simple answer. ![]() | |
