Chevrolet is where it's at for sure.
That said, I drive a Dodge.

But those new pics look good. That dirt looks amazing! We just made a new track but the dirt was really dry and crappy...so somebody had the great idea of spreading horse manure all over it to soften it up. You obviously didn't have that problem!

Re: My new track

Thanks for all the positive comments...

Yeah, the dirt turned out to be amazing... It was good to start with but it needed some work to build a track with...

We have a 3 inch water line with 75 ft of fire house attached to it... I used that for watering... We watered on Friday Morning, Friday Night, and Saturday Morning before we started. Then as much as possible on Saturday/Sunday while I made the track... Then again on Monday Morning...

Did a little test ride yesterday morning... A few jumps need some shaping/packing... the whoops sections need some shaping/packing...
The burms are all awesome except one that needs some packing...
I'll try for some riding photos/video next weekend... gotta catch up on work 'till then...

Thanks again!

hahahaha... Sorry man... it's killing me too... lol... These short days suck...

I've been starting regular work at 5 or 6 am each day just so I can finish early and give the track some attention before it gets dark...

I watered a LOT each day this week and only got in a couple 20 minute rides to test things out... the test rides were too dark for photos/video... plus some hand grooming needs to be done...

I decided there is a section I want to add and some others I want to change and build up a little... I have to run some water lines and do another side project too so I rented a skid steer for another 8 hours this weekend... I'll probably use about half of that time improving the track...

Re: My new track

what's good to use for compaction of a new track? I have everything shaped up but it needs some serious packing and grooming...

I was thinking about dragging around a 4x6 with some fence material attached behind a ride-on mower... lol... but maybe I should rent a compactor?

Any advice? What prices? I just had some sod put in and they used a roller with a water tank that you push around... no motor but I wonder if that would work? Or just rent the right stuff with motor (see below)...
what size and model should work good?

United Rentals - Find Equipment - Compaction

Re: My new track

I was thinking something just a tiny bit smaller...

Would this work or would it not have enough pressure?
Agri-Fab 18 x 36 in. Lawn Roller - Model 45-02681 at Sears.com

or rent this?
United Rentals - Find Equipment - Compaction - MultiQuip MRH 800 GS 25IN Walk-Behind Roller

Re: My new track

ive always used a lawnmower sized tractor to pack down all my jumps. i would first soak them with water, and then let them set for like a day so the water soaks in and then roll over them a bunch with the tractor. after that id soak them again and let them set for at least 2 days before i ride them.

it made all of my lips super hard packed. the key is ALOT of water.

also you have to make sure your lips are at least twice as wide as the tractor your rolling them with otherwise you wont be able to pack down the middle of the lip.
