Re: Ysr/crf Conversion Has Begun

Raised an inch in the rear too. Just took out the top shock bushing and welded it to the top, only lost a mm or 2 of wheelbase so I'm hoping that doesn't hurt me too much with the CRF120 motor in there. Gearing can always be adapted I guess.

Re: Ysr/crf Conversion Has Begun

The frames are stamped, so there are folds to the inside. So you now have a hallow parts in some areas in the frame on the inside. You then weld plates to the inside to make a "boxed" in frame. Alot stronger. I personally think its over kill but some think its worth it. As far as the swingarm, im asuming (because he braced the swing arm) he was thalking about filling in the gaps between the brace and swing arm is. Alot of super bikes and gp bikes make or modifie there swing arms for better bracing. boxing in the frame and swinger prevents twisting, binding and makes stronger. For what were doing you wont notice much, mostly for looks.

Re: Ysr/crf Conversion Has Begun

Chester:
Boxing the swingarm in my case would only be for looks. Go to google images, type in RCV211V and pull up the 1st and 2nd pictures. One swing arm has a hole and the other is 'boxed' for racing.

Flugie:
Awesome! do you have any pics of your intake? or close ups of the bike? I can't wait to test ride mine

You're going to need to move that NSF tail waaaay back. You're going to be right on the tank, and you aren't going to be able to fit behind the screen. ---L*64

Re: Ysr/crf Conversion Has Begun

it looks good, what i would do is stretch the swingarm 3 inches. it would give the overall look a vast improvement. i think its to short in the back making the ass-end look kind of funny

i agree on the swingarm. i put the nsr swingarm on and it was just over 3in and looks alot better. besides looks i handles WAY better. its worth you time to go back and stretch it. bike is looking good. i getting very close with mine.

Re: Ysr/crf Conversion Has Begun

Thank you for all the feedback guys, keep it coming. I didn't even notice the stubby swingarm until now.

It actually feels really comfortable, I'm 5'8" 170 lbs. though. I'm also used to my 07 R1.

I think I'm going to run an older CR80 swingarm The dimensions are right, I just have to add a few brackets for the shock. It will bring it back 3-4 inches hopefully make it look better and more streetable.

I was able to use the stock fairing stay to mount the sides so I don't have to drill a hole in the nose.

Kinda been slacking lately, working late tomorrow night though so I'll post some new pics of the motor mounts

No, theres a bunch in Japan through Webike.net. They seem to be about $150 + shipping. Sounds like it would be expensive though at the end of the day.

I'm not going to run the CR80 swingarm any more. I finished the motor last night. Slowly getting there.

Re: Ysr/crf Conversion Has Begun

Got the exhaust done and fired it up!

Used aluminum flat to make a bracket. Header came out to 35 inches (stock is 31)

I had to use the XR50 header to make it reach
My exhaust is a quarter stock and 75% Ebay XR50 aftermarket exhaust
