Re: ysr/450 build I have a 250 2 stroke enduro engine that I was thinking about putting in my YSR next. I have a lifan 150cc in mine at the moment but I want a little more response. It was an enduro so it has an injector pump which I want to rebuild and run and most importantly a lighting coil. Any advice to someone looking to put a 2-smoke in? I was going to make a custom engine cage rather than modding the original like I did for my last conversion, as well as gusseting the frame a bit. Any tips or hints would be great. Also as posted earlier pictures or video would be Awesome! Here is my bike about 5-6 months ago on its first week of running if interested Thanks in advance! -Tim

Re: ysr/450 build Cool Build, I have a YSR with a YZ250f... Funny I considered using the dual frame construction method also, but then opted to make my own removeable engine cradle, this way I don't have to dissassemble the motor everytime I want to remove it, as I assume you need to do... I am in the process of building another, considering a 450 this time, should bolt right into my existing chassis with a minor modification to the top motor mount... So whats your plan for Oil Sump, Exhaust, Radiator & Top Motor Mount? FYI don't leave the top mount off, I tried & the vibes were out of control... So I fabbed 1 & all is smooth now... Also, I hope you plan on bracing the **** out of your swing arm cae its gonna need it with all that tourque the 450 puts out.... Last edited by PainterDude; 09-16-2008 at 03:24 AM.

Man, you like to work hard, I prefer to work smarter... I used an oil tank off a 06 YZ250F, 450 holds same amount of oil, so should work for you too.. It mounts up front in the wishbone area of the cradle, I even used the stock oil lines, just don't forget to run the top vent hose to the coressponding vent on the valve cover... I made this critical error & smoked my engine on first ride, cause NO OIL PREASURE...BE WARNED.. this hose works with crank case ventalation to complete a vacume in the oiling system...If you decide to make your oil tank, You will still need this hose, or BOOM..not fun having the wheel lock up at 60... Exhaust you'lle have to figure out on your own, once you have everything together, But don't be supprised if you find yourself modying your frame, I did... Ninja 250 Radiator, Where did you get that Idea??? I am running a 250 though....Still it overheats in traffic, so I cobbled together an electric fan & no problems since... | Re: ysr/450 build hey really like your build... have you welded the swing arm yet? what kind of welding process are you going to use? tig or wire feed? just curious. if your going to wire feed it practice alot... if you can use a spoolgun even better world of difference. keep up the nice work. | Re: ysr/450 build "Shawn your 200 build had 13,467 viewers. Are you really gonna try to hold out on us like that?? I feel there are quite a few mini builders using their poker faces right now." It will be worth the wait, just dont want any one to be like "what the hell are you doing now". Just want to see it done. Yeah not sure why people "hide" there build, so far i build to date, not just this time no one would expect for me to do this! Keep up the good work! I need pics!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~Shawn |

Re: ysr/450 build Have a donated 450 sitting on my bench right now, so instead of building a whole new bike, I decided to be the First & pull the 250F out & install the 450F this weekend, Do a little R&D then build the ultimate YSR 450F.... The 250F will be getting a 290 kit & WR 5th gear for highway riding. installed in the mean time.... I'll Post ip a video when finished... Last edited by PainterDude; 09-17-2008 at 11:13 PM.

Re: ysr/450 build Yes I need some more pictures, Videos, sounds clips anything!!! I am trying to get motivated to actually start my next build. The only difference is this time I want to actually finish it before I put it on the road. Whenever I get something running and working, I have no drive to finish the project... For example my current Ysr has not had front blinkers ever. I had all the parts, plenty of time and tools I would just rather go up into the hills and ride How many street miles can you get out of a 450f? I hear they like to overheat even when in the original bike and my cousin has already rebuilt the head 3 times on his race spec 08 crf450f. I wanted to do a 450f but I want reliability and easy rebuilds. Thats one reason I decided on an enduro style 2 stroke. I already know it can take the long highway miles cause we have similar ones sitting around with 30,000 miles on them on and off road. $75 for new piston, wrist pin, circlips, rings and head gasket. A little honing and your off

Re: ysr/450 build I was wondering if there was something you could do to remedy the problem such as lowering compression a little or changing valves and valve seats out in the head for the titanium ones. He keeps cracking right between spark plug holes and valves. You can only repair a head so many times. Bust also Street is a little different than HARD CORE RIDING
