Re: Street Plated NSR50 Project So I'm back in Nor Cal and picked up the frame yesterday after I got the tabs for the NSF tail welded on. He bent and cut up some chromoloy pieces for the brackets. This thing is sturdy. Since the NSF tail has you sitting directly on the fiberglass, I need to get some impact foam to support the seating area when I finally start riding this thing. Here are the pics: ![]() ![]() I then took out the Dremel and smoothed out the welds a little bit: ![]() ![]() While I was at it, I decided to get the swingarm slider/spool from mikedbike2002 welded on. ![]() I was hoping to drop the bike off at the powdercoater today but I forgot that I still needed to get the tires taken off the wheels so I'm going to have to go tomorrow instead.

Re: Street Plated NSR50 Project Daym it! Just got back from a local MC shop and the guy that was taking the tires off the rear rim pointed out a small dent to me. Now I have to go get this thing fixed. The bend isn't bad. The rim still held the air but its one of those things you know you have to fix before moving forward. Here is a pic. I placed a piece of tape near the dent to show it since its kind of hard to see. ![]() The bend is only on one side of the rim. If it's going to cost me $100 to fix this rim this week, I'm going to end up upgrading rims instead.

Re: Street Plated NSR50 Project I called the local wheel repair shop nearby and they said their base price quote is $125 over the phone but they said they may be able to do it for cheaper since its such a small dent. I'm going to try to make it there before they close today but if they say more than $75 to fix it, I'm just gonna leave the little ding there until I can save up some $ for some new bling wheels. What do you guys think?

Re: Street Plated NSR50 Project Sounds like a plan especially since it doesn't really affect performance.

Re: Street Plated NSR50 Project I worked my magic and batted my eyes and the wheel shop is fixing my wheels for $50. Then I walk around and look at the other stuff they're doing and decided to take the plunge and have them do my whole frame as well. They work with custom bikes and custom wheels for cars and based on the work I saw going on, I felt comfortable (for now) leaving my frame with them. It was definitely more than the original place I had planned on going but these guys here have done wheels and frames before so hopefully the extra $ I am paying for their experience is worth it. Fingers crossed... 1 week and I get the frame and wheels back according to them.

Re: Street Plated NSR50 Project if I may......... Four Door's bike is a pre-04 NSR, which is a grey market street legal NSR, already equiped with lighting. For those that have an 04 NSR converting to street, the easiest and convenient way is installing a Baja Kit (dirt bike kits converting to street).......which is a whole other topic. Oh! FYI, the 04 NSR's are factory equipped with a lighting coil (yellow wire)

Re: Street Plated NSR50 Project manimal is correct as usual. Frame is getting blasted to take off the rest of the little rust spots on the bike that I couldn't get to. Then it's getting powdercoted with the crinkle finish black. I just got some feedback from a couple of other local guys and they said although they do nice work at this shop, they tend to lag quite a bit so I'm going to keep pressure on them to finish it by Friday since I want to be able to get the bike back together by this weekend to try and test/race it on Sunday at the Stockton BBQ.

Re: Street Plated NSR50 Project Yup, that would be them. What was the turn around time for you to get your rims back on the RX7? I talked to a couple of other people and they said that Wheel Techniques has a tendancy to take longer than estimated to complete their jobs.
