Re: My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! From what i could see it looks good. I saw a pic on the nsr50 wheels thread. What rotor is that? Im going to run the YSR caliaper for a (short) while. Will be going to a brembo mono block soon. Last edited by shawnbassett26; 03-26-2008 at 09:36 PM.

I am doing a similar build with a Lifan 150cc engine in my YSR 50 Frame. My post is on another forum though. Do you plan to keep your lower Fairing on the bike when completed? I haven't seen any vertical engine conversions with the lower fairing in tact. I plan to keep my lower fairing if at all possible. Also are you going to make an additional bracket for the top mount on the engine? Do you think it will be necessary to even use that mount with the other 4 securely in place?

Re: My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! Thanks man, iv spent every dime i have on this project and put ALOT of labor in to this thing. Just waiting on the body right now, blead my brake lines, make a front brake bracket, cut my chain, and some finishing touches on my exhaust. I hope i have some more things done this week. Im aiming to be (for the most part) done by the end of the month.

Re: My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! That is going to be one awesome YSR when it's all done. I have some questions and one suggestion though. First, how is it you guys are planning to run the NSR forks? I've been wondering about doing it for some time now but the NSR fork tubes are 30mm in diameter and the YSRs are 27mm I think. You guys install the complete upper and lower tree from the NSR onto the YSR? If you do, what is involved in doing so? And now to my suggestion. I just completed a Blaster 200 swap into one of my YSRs. I wanted to get the gearing done right the first time. So I looked up the gear ratios on the blaster and applied them to the YSR's 12 inch tire size. It worked perfectly. The calculator was almost perfect in simulating my speed at given RPMs. I did the same thing again including the specs for your motor and this is what came up assuming you want to be able to hit 85 mph. ![]() As you can see, you would need at least a 36 tooth rear if you wanna hit 85. I think your motor makes around 16hp to 18hp, which is more than enough to get it to 90 mph if you wanted to.

Re: My YSR 200 4 Stroke build! Thanks for the positive feed back, i have a few more goodies to put on today. My motor will make about 22-25hp. Im running the YSR forks right now but i will go to the nsr forks and tripples later. I plan on cutting out the stem out of the ysr and welding it on the nsr lower tree. will be an intense prosess but like i said it will be later on. As for gearing the blaster and xr only have 2 things in commin, 1 they are both motors, 2 200cc. other than that, thats about it. 2 vs 4 stroke, 6 vs 5 speed ect.... They gearing in the XR is completely diffrent. i have done a ton of research to get my gearing right. i have a few other front sprockets i might try as well. i have a friend on a ysr sight and hes running the same motor (well almost the same hes running a lifan 200cc) and sprockets and hes getting anout 80mph on the gps. ~Shawn

I played with the gearing on the chart (rear sprocket only since you said that they wont make you a custom front one) to get the gearing required to reach 85 a with the motor almost at max RPM. My Blaster swap IS completely different, in a bad way, I needed to run a 17-34 to be able to hit 85 mph cuz the blaster has much shorter gearing than your XR. What sux is that the motor has enough juice to get to 100 mph but I am limited by gearing, and you will have even more juice than me. The lifan motor is almost identical to yours gearing wise. Except that the XR has a 6th gear. Your bud's YSR is hitting 80 cuz he's one gear too short. If you look at the chart you will see that with a 16-36 (which is probably taller than what he's running now) you have to rev to at least 9000 just to hit 72 in 5th gear. Your 5th and his 5th are almost the same ratio. He would definitely hit and pass 80 or 85 if he goes with like a 17-36 or even a 17-34. Assuming he has at least 17 to 18 hp. But in your case, since you have a much taller final ratio thanks to your 6th gear, you would be able to keep the 16 tooth front and run a 30 tooth rear and you would go about 100-102 at 9000 rpm and cruise at 60 mph at around 5500 RPM. Trust me, with 22-25 hp, you will definitely be able to run that tall of a gear ratio and still accelerate like a bat outa hell. Here are the gear ratios of the Lifan 200: 1st Gear: 2.769 2nd Gear: 1.882 3rd Gear: 1.400 4th Gear: 1.130 5th Gear: 0.960 Primary Reduction Ratio (IP): 3.333 And here are the XR200: 1st Gear: 2.769 2nd Gear: 1.941 3rd Gear: 1.450 4th Gear: 1.130 5th Gear: 0.923 6th Gear: 0.785 Primary Reduction Ratio (IP): 3.333 P.S. If your are not looking for top speed and you are more about being able to pick up speed really fast and wheelie in almost every gear then disregard all of the above, I know that some of us are not trying to go 100 mph on a YSR (it's a little insane). I was just trying to help. Not that you need my help, but if I have any little bit of info that I feel might help a fellow rider I will always offer it. Shawn, this 5 speed/6 speed thing is driving me nuts!! ![]() I've spent about an hour trying to figure it out. On most spec sheets it will state it's a 6-speed, like here:Honda XR200 - CycleChaos And here:Honda XR200R Motorcycles Then, in some other places it will say it's a five speed. Like here: Honda XR 200 What the hell? I could not find specific info for an 86 other than what's listed above. I know that there were two models produced over the years, the XR200R and XR200L. One was for the street and the other was for off-road use only. I believe also that some came with electric start and some came with kick start. I would imagine the street version brought the electric starter. I can't find out if the XR200L was made in 86, I know the R version was though. I sort of would like to be sure about this motor's specs since a friend of mine wants to do a 4 stroke and I told him about your swap and he's all for it. But it sure would be nice if it had 6 gears since we are trying to get the highest speeds possible. | |
