Re: Best Stunt Motor?

My favorite 88 kit disregarding price is the takegawa 88cc s-stage. There cam makes nice power, and the carb is an 18 keihin so it's easy to jet and keeps it a torquey set-up.

Such a nice set-up. We ran it with a 15t up front and a 39 in rear I believe. Really great set-up for stunting and mx. Aww I miss the days of that 50.

Anything from stage 1 to stage 3 88 kit FTW!

I run a stage 3 88 kit with a 4 speed tranny, and stock gearing.. I LOVE IT!

I can stall out wheelies in 2nd gear and ride away, yet still maintain 45-50+ top speed

Re: Best Stunt Motor?

stock 70 motor would be fine for stunting. not much more power than a stock 50 motor but enough to do the job

I'm with Trizz. 70 motor would be just as good as a stock 50 motor.
88tb kit carries my big ass around just fine.. I still got nothing for top end.

Re: Best Stunt Motor?

how much more power could one expect from a 70 motor opposed to a fifty motor? just a little bit? i really want some torque so i might drop down a tooth or two on the rear sprocket too. im not going for speed as much as i want to be able to pull the front end up very easy.

i don't know the difference in horsepower numbers, but not much more power. you might want to get the motor in and start with stock 14/37 gearing to begin with. the problem with messing with the gearing on a stock motor is that the gears are already short enough as it is. when you change the gearing on one you gain a little more torque, but you still have to master the art of the stock motor wheely pull, only your gears run out SUPER fast, so before you even have it to balance point you're already revved out half the time. makes learning more frustrating than it needs to be IMO.

i've messed with just about every motor/gearing combo at this point, and from what i've learned your better off rocking stock gears until you go up to a stage 2 kit or above.

Depends if it's stock or not. Stock obviously the 70 will be a little bit faster.

Re: Best Stunt Motor?

im thinking about using the 82 bbr kit, but honestly stock 50 is enough for me. i can pull the front wheel up anytime i want it to come up...i cant ride them very well in first because i run out of gear too fast. 2nd and 3rd i have no troubles out of tho.

id say learn on stock 50 and then move up if you feel the urge

Re: Best Stunt Motor?

I'm going to disagree with you all! Run a TB stroker crank 51mm and the stock 50 top end. Stunter's want torque, torque, torque on the bottom end. So, here you go. And keep the carb down. 18mm max.
